No that is me expanding upon you "don't get 2-3 players marking one forward" that's all that is, which is all I set out to do. I am not suggesting that switching to 4-4-2 means the goal floodgates open or that we'll suddenly look like Barca at their best, but it would mean that a 21 year old striker doesn't have to try and beat at least 2 players all of the time and will in turn result in a few more goals.
yeah, N'gog desperately needs to play alongside a strong striker. Throw him up with someone he can play off teh shoulder of, or lay off to then run on, & he'll shine.

Unfortunately that's not Rafa. I'd stick Stevie on the right & have Kuyt & Ngog in the centre with Aqua & Mascher in CM, that would get the best out of our team when Torres isnt there. Dare I say you could try to play Babel a bit more in that formation too, cos there'd be a real outlet on the right & he would be afforded a bit more space to run into on the left as Ngog & kuyt pulled defenders round.

Fallon's verbal diarrhoea aside, N'gog should not be playing on his own up front. That said, our midfield was horrific today, so it's immaterial really.

hahahahaha... RAWK locked their Official Match Thread because people had the audacity to voice opinions.

Painful moment of Tonight's game No. 34512951...

Carra fucking screaming for the ball from Kuyt as he marauded down the right: "DIIIIIRK!"

Kuyt gives him it, Carra takes it, stops it, turns round, and passes it back to Skrtel.

Jesus fucking Christ.

What's the verdict on Aquilani now lads, starting to get a little worried?

He doesn't impose himself enough imo.
Positives:
His touch is excellent
He moves the ball quickly
He can pass
He'll only get better.

Negatives:
So so many.

He has an eye for a pass but i just don't think he has the balls for a fight though. He's one of the most bizzare signings we have made. Its quite clear he's not a defensive midfielder, yet it seems he's been bought to play this role. His ideal position is Gerrads role but we know he's never budgeing him out. So god know why we signed him.

Aquilani needs regular games, which he doesn't look likely to get.

And will be gone next January window.

Because Glock, or whoever he's plagiarising, is mental.

Aquilani will become much more effective and efficient if we play better football.

He is by far the most creative player we have in the squad, and it's all going to waste because we play shit football.

FACT.

Except he isn't.

Ryan - did you ever watch him when he played for Roma, or even Italy? What has happened to that player? Surely you don't lose your talent overnight, not even Glock can blame Rafa for that.

Rarely is the answer to your first question mate.

He's got talent, plenty of it. But it'll take years for him to fully realise his potential for us. And anyway, he might be sold before he gets that opportunity.

He's a nice passer, distributes the ball wonderfully, and will improve slowly. But right now, we can't afford him such opportunities because he offers very little apart from that.

The fact that he says he's playing with constant pain is enough to explain his "loss of talent". He followed that up by adding that he "hopes" one day to play pain-free.

To extend on that a touch...

I don't dislike him at all. There are several parts to his game that really look the part, but I'll be honest - I can't think of any other midfielder in recent memory who offers less from a defensive perspective. He may as well not be there, and that's not good enough for someone in the centre of a team. If he was Kaka going forward, you could make a case for accepting that part of his game, but no.

He can pick out all the wonderful passes from now until fucking doomsday, but until he improves the defensive part of his game - significantly - he'll be sitting on the bench, and rightly so.

You think Slur Alex would use him in his team?

That's the problem with Liverpool today - and this is the 2nd consecutive summer window where he's bought VERY poorly (Dossena, Keane followed by Aqua, Johnson). No, the talent of player (bar Doss) was good but he's bought players who've not been able to contribute (for whatever reason, let's not get into that) and have NOT improved the level of our team. In other words, we're fucked next year unless a) Rafa gets lucky and buys a Spanish kid who takes his game to the 'next level' immediateyl or b) Citeh, Spurs & Villa combust so we're left to compete for 4th with Everton.

Not when he's already got 5 midfielders who are significantly better than him, no.

I've binned the Europa Cup games now. Enough's enough and I'm not paying £32 to watch that shite anymore. I'll keep my season ticket but I'm really not interested in shitty cup competitions like the Europa and Carling cups.

Oh, and I offered someone a free ticket last night and STILL couldn't get rid of it.

What if we get to a quarter or semi final and draw Juventus though mate?
