Ok I'm converted thanks to Ryan! Sell Aqua back to Roma ...

We should do this every year - buy a 20 million player and sell him back to the original team for a little loss. Than at least one Liverpool fan will remain happy.

I'm indifferent to aqua but a serious question to his fans and defenders who has he done of any significance since he arrived? any example will do. thanks in advance.
I believe he's also started just 7 games, all 7 of which we have won too.
Someones already said it though, he isn't a DM and can't do the job there, so we either swap him and Gerrard around or move half the team around, or change formation, or sell him. His best game was in the Gerrard role, I doubt he'll get to play there often enough to warrant continuing to pay the money for him to be honest.
Regarding the game, I don't understand all the Anger tbh. They came with a game plan of securing a 0-0 and we foiled them. It wasn't pretty but against teams who play 11 behind the ball it never is. They defended really well and we managed to do the job and break them down. That's a result, unpretty or not.
And what's that 7 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss in our last 10?

that's quite impressive given the amount of games he's played.

Good post Oncy.

They came with the sole intention of defending, which they did very well. In may not have been the thumping a lot of fans need to boost their mood, but given our huge lack of creativity at the moment, a 1-0 win was a reasonable result in the circumstances, and I'm confident we'll go through.

It may be a 'meh' result in a competition we don't want to be in, but the time to criticise isn't after this game. It was when we were booted out of the CL. Things have improved since then.

Really? Because what I saw last night can't be considered an improvement. Results may have improved, performances haven't other than the odd game here and there. We're miles away from where we need to be.

Johnson, Torres, Yossi and Gerrard are our creative hub of players. Only one of them has just recently reclaimed full fitness recently and the others were all unavailable.

From the sound of the opening whistle, we were never going to tear them apart and have a fun evening. I'm sure the fans present were knowledgeable to know that, too, which is why the atmosphere was so down.

But a result is a result nonetheless.

We had 21 shots, 12 on target (mostly blocked by players throwing themselves in front) they had 2.
We had 14 corners they had 1.
On another day Gerrard bags 2 or maybe 3 (good chance in 30secs and 2 clear headers), skrtel scores, Mascherano had a couple of great drives blocked, Kuyt narrowly missed, Ngog nearly scored on the turn etc etc. If it's dour and tight and 1-0 I'd be a bit worried, it wasn't though, we mauled them and for all their heroic defending we snuck the win we deserved. I just don't see the issue. No team looks good against a team like that, what you hope for is to control the game Done, control possession Done, create chances Done, and most importantly to take one of them and win the game Done.

I wish we had someone who could head the fucking ball!

All those corners and nothing, I think we get a goal every 100 corners or something mad like that!

We were fucking garbage. There's no spin anyone can put on it to make me think otherwise.

Aquilani will become much more effective and efficient if we play better football.

He is by far the most creative player we have in the squad, and it's all going to waste because we play shit football.

FACT.
BOLLOCKS.
Oh please!

Alongisde Gerrard and Torres he is on the same level in terms of technical ability, and in terms of creativity - he is miles better than Gerrard in the tight spaces - whereas Gerrard excels at the long range passing and through ball.

Aquilani is finding hard to adjust to the kick and run attitude of the English league... we play fucking shit football compared to other top ranked Europe sides, and anyone who denies this fact is a fool.

Yes right now he doesn't look so flash but he doesn't exactly have the right balance in midfield alongside him - a player will pass the ball and not move or run into space to recieve the bal again - nor does he have an intelligent striker like Torres making smart runs.

I'd love to see him playing behind TORRES and have GERRARD playing a more central midfield role.

And on top of that, I'd like to see Rafa give him m a good run of games as opposed to benching him as soon as he shows decent form.

Aquilani is a 'trequartista' - a role which he is yet to play or be given a proper run in .... I find it ridiculous the expectations and judgements people have made on him with him being played out of position.

It's like signing Totti or Riquelme and playing them in a much deeper role and then criticising them for not performing.

Poor, must try harder.

The only thing that Aquilani has that Gerrard hasn't is probably a GCSE in Latin. Gerrard is an immeasurably superior player, in all aspects. Why fuck your best player about for someone nowhere near as good?

I feel a bit sorry for Aqua. He isn't suited to English footy and he isn't suited to our team. It isn't his fault we paid £20M for him. I can't see him improving, the poor fucker's confidence must be rock bottom. Plus, obviously, he's always only a slight breeze away from a career ender.

That said, a certain expectation has to come with a £20M price tag. He simply isn't worth that to an English team.

Kinell you're a grumpy old man.
I havent read the 19 pages sorry...

We created a lot of chances and played relatively well and Lucas wasnt playing.
Of course we wont score a lot with Ngog alone up front but were quite lively till the last third of the pitch.
Best player of the season's absence is not a coincidence.
