Liverpool Vs The Chosen One (includes Pardew Goodness) Post Match Thread

He almost always looks to chip it over, which works more often when we're at full strength cos firstly it's rare that he needs to be the one supplying the ball so happens much less often, & secondly cos we have players more suited to getting into the position to make something of it.
Yesterday he was far further forward because of how deep Sunderland played. He is not the player for delicate chips (yes, 1:100 comes off) and clever passes in tight areas (again 1:100) he is much better against better opposition when the game is more open, he's much batter at those 30-50 yarders. Hence so much wastefulness and lack of creativity from him.

Defensively he had little to do. It was a poor game from a captain commanding his troops and he allowed them to continue to bang their heads against the door down the centre when we clearly looked more dangerous whenever we were wide and behind them.

For the Henderson Haters.. MOM..

To be fair I though he was one of our better players..

Our central midfielder in keeping the game ticking shocker.

All well and good being critical of our players but not after that performance.
Thats just having an agenda.

You'd think we lost reading some of the comments. Just fucking enjoy being boss without the negative bollocks.
It's a post match thread where we are supposed to discuss the merits. or lack of, of the tam/players. Wouldn't be much of a thread if everyone just went around patting each other on the back because we won. What would the thread be like if Sunderland had held out for instance ? Which could easily have been the case bar one moment of solo brilliance from Origi.

Not everyone played well despite the win, it's fair play to debate individual performances. Karius for example has taken plenty of stick despite us winning games.

They (well at least me) are not Henderson haters so that's a term you should ditch. Despite the BBC having shite in their eyes - they gave Mane a 7.5 FFS and not one person on here would do that.

So 4 chances created from our deepest midfielder (and for lots of the game our deepest player, as he actually sat between the CBs).

And thats so bad? If your darling Lucas was playing in that position would you expect more?
Mentioning Lucas is neither here nor there though Doc. Most of Henderson's chips forward were pathetic and either went straight out of play or to a defender's head. We all know pass completion stats are pointless when a team sits so deep and the player concerned taps the ball around at the back a lot. In fact they are typical CB stats, you'd expect a lower pass completion rate from a player trying to be creative.

I think it is safe to say that we actually did very well today - considering the 10 men defense. I have no idea why Phil Neville thought Klopp was being disrespectful to sunderland when he said it was the most defensive team he has ever seen. I thought he is straight to the point and at no point suggested that teams should just come out and try and attack us. I think the stage has been set now in the last couple of games - no team is going to try and attack us in any way except Man City who I think will attack based on their coaches philosophy. I just hope that the next team defends with 9 men and not 10 - we may score earlier that way. Fucks sake.
To be fair to Klopp he also said, in his post match interview, that they were that defensive because we forced them to be and that he was sure that wasn't their intention (or by design - I forget the exact term he used).

Henderson was almost playing as 3rd defender. Milner and Clyne was almost always in front of him. When Sunderland tried to go down the flanks exploiting that it was always Hendo who covers that space, both left and right. He did that very well.

His job was also to recycle and keep the ball moving while marshalling the space in front of the centre backs. You can see why he didn't take too much risks when he was in our half. A misjudged forward pass, with our 7 players further forward, would have given the opponent a free run at us. He did his job well.

He did get more adventurous when we move into their half as a unit. He tried some long passes which came off. 1 chip pass and a cross for Lovren who headed wide for example.

I slated him last season but he has been one of our best players this. He is everywhere defensively all the time. You guys need to watch how many times he pop up in defensively to nick the ball away when we seems to be struggling. I didn't think he had this in him to be honest.

He was very good yesterday i thought.

Not one person on here has Henderson in their Top 3 for MOTM (or even mentioned him) and from what I remember from Morse's MOTM site not one person from the other 5 LFC supporter sites had him rated either (when I voted). Luke Reddy at the BBC is fucking nuts, he also described Origi's goal as a cross !

On MOTD Phil Neville said it was "a bit disrespectful" for Klopp to say Sunderland was "the most defensive team he's ever played against." I think he's right though and maybe it doesn't hurt to point out when the teams come to park the bus – maybe we will see less of this if the press get on their back just a little bit (and we keep winning, obviously). Sunderland's formation can be most objectively described as 6-3-1 – 4 centre-halves, 2 full-backs, 3 defensive midfielders and 1 striker:

Neville was a lesser player than his older bro and he's now a lesser pundit too. Poor tw@t's just trying a bit too hard.

One of them is a Henderson hater of long standing. Clue: it isn't The Nomad. He and you have been caught in the crossfire.

I have no problems at all with defensive side of his game. He did very well in that aspect.

But Henderson played well. Thats the difference.

And that's a matter of opinion.

I agree. But when several media outlets have him as MOTM and its only 2-3 people on here who think he had a sub par level performance, then its a bit strange. Certainly when the numbers doesnt back up the argument.

If a player has a average game, most people will agree with that with maybe a few percentages going the other ways.

As for ratings, he was a 7. Not our best player but certainly not a poor or average perofrmance.

I think the Stoke goal was a cross. Yesterdays goal was most certainly a shot.

Very Anelkaesque, as someone said after the game.

yeah my initial reaction was a shot come cross but the replay clearly shows him setting himself up to whip it in that far corner , excellent goal to be fair.

overall, I was quite impressed by origi yesterday , considering his lack of game time , the boy did good

That should settle the argument:

This is going to become his Trademark shot isn't it.. I Like Coutinhio with his..

Thing is this shot from Origi is very difficult to Save because of the Angle and the bounce before it gets near the goal..

It is Technically a brilliant shot to master.. Doesn't require power, just accuracy and precision.

Apparently there is another trademark Origi shot:
