Pardew gloating towards Bradley after the equalizer

After the Southampton match, this is a big win. Gives you hope when teams park the bus.

That said they probably won't be all as shit as Sunderland

I think we will have to win several more of this kind of games before teams decide that parking the bus against us is not effective and will instead try to be aggressive again. I agree with Klopp – Sunderland were even more defensive-minded than expected, Anichebe played on the wing and dropped unbelievably deep and even Defoe helped out on defence. It was very difficult to break down that wall, especially with no Lallana and Sturridge and then an injury to Coutinho (who was a bit subdued even before the injury) and the fact that we did so, after some pain and struggle, is incredibly encouraging.

I thought Mané was way below his usual standard today. We needed to get behind the Sunderland defence instead of weaving a way through the middle of them, and I looked to Mané to do that, but he didn't. Maybe his thoughts are already with the African Cup of Nations?

I really doubt that with so long to go (still about 5-6 weeks to the start) and with Klopp in your ear !
Still I believe he should have been given more specific instructions today : get to the byline and cut it back.
Today he had probably the worst game I've seen him play.

Some ratings as I saw them :
Karius 7 Bar his attempted own goal he was very good.
Milner 6 (awful first half)
Lovren 7
Matip 8
Clyne 6 (poor control in the final 1/3 and crossing let him down )
Henderson 4 (really pedestrian and wasteful in attack with multiple useless floated chips).
Wijnaldum 7 so strong on the ball. A metronome.
Can 7 frustrating final ball in the first half but kept driving us forward and in the end was maybe a little unlucky not to score.
Mane 4 really really poor for him. Virtually no redeeming play of note bar winning the penalty.
Firmino 8 kept at them all game with superb close control. Always creative and searching for an opening. Put in a major shift off the ball. Should have had an assist.
Coutinho 6 not very effective and strangely his injury may even have helped us on the day.
Origi 7 Strength, close control and a superb goal. It's great that with him and Sturridge we have strength in depth in our attack.

Klopp 10 !

Mane's form is a bit of a worry – he just couldn't do much right today. Is that the same mid-season slump Saints fans saw from him last season? Firmino and Can, on the other hand, have been very good, playing with passion and inventiveness throughout. Origi wasn't 100% mentally ready to come in in the first half, but he changed the game and gave us a presence up front. I think @manwithnoname needs to change his avatar to Origi for a week, that's the least he deserves after such a hugely important winning goal that he made all by himself.

In defense, I thought Matip was uncharacteristically sloppy today, both with his positioning and passing. Fortunately all of his partners were very sharp, especially Karius. Does anybody miss Mignolet at this point? I don't think so. I thought Clyne and Milner were both good. Wijnaldum is a solid passer, but in this game we needed Lallana's invention more. Other than Coutinho's injury (let's hope it's not too serious) I'm very pleased and relieved today, seeing Moyes so bitter and defensive after the game makes it even better.

Congrats to Ben Woodburn on his PL debut! I'm sure it's the first game of many.

I wouldnt really worry to much about Mané yet. Its only a couple of weeks ago that he scored 2 goals. His pace also gave us a penalty at the end.

He had an off day though, thats for certain.

Sunderland played a flat back ten, it wasn't the kind of game for Mane to use his pace.

Karius 8 looks assured and a couple of great saves, the defence look like they have confidence in him

Clyne 6 not at his best

Lovren 7 didn't do anything wrong

Matip 7 easily our most influential CB

Milner 7 would have been a 6 but the penalty, an off day like a few of them.

Henderson 5 two steps forward, 3 back for him. Its no secret i'm not his biggest fan. He is NOT influential on his own. Never stands out when others have a bad game.

Wijnaldum 6 not great either today.

Can 6.5 tried hard, but lacked cutting edge.

Firmino 6 worked hard, too many wasted crosses

Mane 5 his worst game for us

Coutinho 5 not enough time

Origi 7 what a goal, just when we thought it wouldn't happen

Klopp 10 fucking legend.

mane wasn't great but he wasn't terrible either and went on a great win to get the peno

He did his best Ray Wilkins impression most of the game. Put in a shift but lots of sideways safety passing
Exactly my point. His passing accruacy is always good but the majority of it is sideways or back. He lacks cutting edge when we need it. 2 or 3 up, he has it to slip it in behind. But when defences are packed, he doesn't have the creativity to thread the ball through the tight gaps.
