I think we need a player like him AND a top quality attacker. We're seriously short up front.
That might be a bridge too far this window, but I'd agree. Look at this lot 😡

A lot of shite football is enough to produce goals against us, unless we change something significantly from last season.
Last season our out was that we could outscore those goals. We can't do that at present. I'm worried.
We've seemingly gone a long way in addressing squad depth, but there's no use having that depth without it backing up quality. Get a top quality forward player in (are there any available?) and we'll be looking much better. If we don't, I can't see us getting top 4.
It's their 4 strikers I'm mainly looking at with complete jealously, just one like those would make us a lot stronger.
We played pretty well for 60 mins. But yeah ive never understood the lambert signing from day 1. He's a average player who was at his level with southampton. We should be going for a lot better than him.Didn't see the game, but yeah we obviously need a striker and probably another forward too. Real shame about Remy, he would've been a big help at such a low cost. I called the Lambert signing bizarre at the time and nothing I've seen or heard so far has convinced me otherwise. I think he'll sink pretty quickly to a glorified mascot once the season actually starts.
Is this a fair analysis, or rose tinted?

More or less correct. The Mancs took their chances, Henderson and Lambert fluffed their lines with golden opportunities, and that's about it. Neither side was outstanding, and both defences had suspect moments. Our midfield is clearly stronger, their strikers are clearly better (if we take out Sturridge), and both backlines will leak goals in the season without further reinforcements.
The silver lining for us is that we've got Lovren and Flanagan back at Merseyside and they're going to be key players for us at the back. We also have possibly Moreno and Manquillo to come, assuming, of course, that they can improve on what we have (the bar isn't too high though, is it?). On the other hand, Rafael aside, the Mancs have already put their entire defence out there, and it wasn't good at all - you can see pacy and mobile forwards like Sturridge, Aguero, Jovetic, Sanchez, etc. having some joy with them. Still time for both sides to buy players to plug holes, but I'll be more comfortable right now as a Liverpool fan, knowing that the fullback positions seem to be getting addressed now, and that the crucial move after that is to find the striking threat who can fill in when Sturridge isn't playing.
I watched the 1st half and thought we looked good. Lots of good movement and fairly slick passing - Especially in midfield.
