Liverpool FC today announced they will face FC Barcelona at Wembley in August as part of the International Champions Cup.

The clash, which was confirmed at a press conference at the national stadium on Tuesday afternoon, will take place on Saturday August 6, kicking off at 5pm BST.

LFC ambassador Gary McAllister and Ronald de Boer, representing Barcelona, were at Wembley today to help launch the news.

McAllister commented: “What an incredible game to round off such a high-profile tournament - and all set under the iconic Wembley arch.

“I’m sure this game will be a great spectacle for Reds fans and football fans in general. I can’t wait.”

The Reds are one of 10 teams competing in the International Champions Cup and will play two matches in California in July before heading back to the UK to face Barcelona.

Charlie Stillitano, chairman of Relevent Sports, said: “Barcelona and Liverpool are two of the biggest football clubs in the world.

“The ability to have these two powerhouse clubs compete is what the ICC is all about and truly an honour. Bringing these clubs and the ICC to Wembley Stadium is an incredible mark of the growth of tournament in only four years.”

Tickets for the game will go on sale for LFC season ticket holders and Members via www.ticketmaster.co.uk on June 1 at 10am.

General sale will commence at 10am on Friday June 3. Ticket prices will start from £26 for adults, with junior tickets priced £15.

Being able to get tickets to a Liverpool game less than an hour away from my house, heaven!

Oh man, what a dilemma - I had planned that weekend to paint my house. Now I am faced with a choice of flying to London to watch a pre-season friendly or watching the paint dry ...

Love to mate but it looks like I'm flying to New York that day for a week in our US office. I'll be taking off that morning so will just land in time for the game.

If I can change the week I'm supposed to go over, then I'll defo be up for FACKING LANDAN

5 coming over but 2 already okay for somewhere to stay. I'll set up a whatsapp closer to the time man. Yeah pick up a ticket anyway.

Fuck, I arranged to kip on my mates couch (he has a cupboard that masquerades as a flat in London) after reading this late last night, then mentioned it to Bex just now as I went to order a ticket & she pointed out we don't fly back from Spain until that morning. No fucking way I manage that. She's easy going, but even she'd blow her fucking top if I fucked off minutes after getting home leaving her with three grumpy kids & suitcases full of dirty clothes.

Ah well.

Is this the game where the plan is Coutinho starts the game for us and then at half time, changes into a Barça kit and plays for them in the second half, as an official unveiling?

I tried to get tickets via ticketmaster at 10am but no dice. No availability

80K stadium in the middle of summer.

There will be plenty spares available closer to the date.

I'd be eternally grateful if someone could sort me 2 adults and two children for this?

Or at least as long as I live.
