LIVERPOOL v Sunderland (H)

Not open for further replies.
I have no problems with counter-attacking football...great Liverpool teams have doe precisely that with deadly effect.

The trouble is we dont seem to know what to do once we have the ball.

All out attack, counter-attack whatever; we'd normally expect to beat Sunderland. I don't feel confident about it.

I'm hoping that when the final whistle blows we will be clear winners and I'll feel exhilarated with our display.

Hopefully Torres will do what he did to them last season!

And he blamed the players for Northampton defeat. He accepted hsi mistake in choosing the players, but he never ever mentioned any selfcritisism to why he didnt do anything tactically for 100 mins even if we played shite.
Addressing this one point. He admitted he fucked up team selection, in doing so he left himself with no real option that could change the game.

However, I'll admit he looked lost, he buried his head in his hands the entire game.

Oh, & Johnson's been a fucking liability this season. I'd be half-tempted throw Kelly in, he deserves it.

Besides, Johnson looks out of shape so perhaps he needs a kick up the arse.
Not that it matters like but against Manure it was Konchesky that was the biggest liability of our two WB. And this by a hundred miles. Johnson is getting far to much criticism compared to many other poor players so far.

I really really hope Roy is going to unleash the team tomorrow. That's all I ask of him. Go at them from the off, make them feel what it's like to be away at Anfield Road. Like in the old days.

And that Daniel Agger starts of course as we could use a few assists from the back as well.

Really, is that to much to ask?

No it's not.

Hopefully not playing with the Greek; that worked out beautifully against Northampton.

I've only seen highlights so I can't say how they played but Kyrgiakos was beaten in the air for their first goal wasn't he?

Why so defensive, Kristian?

Exactly.

This is why your Agger crusade gets so much stick.

It's not Agger's fault : it's the Greek's.

It's not Poulsen's fault : it's because he's playing with crap players.

All your own words.

I think Agger is a better player than many give im credit for..but let's not pretend that we'd be magically better if only Roy played him, mate.

Agger had a storming game, didn't he KHL?
I doubt that anyone taking part in the defeat to a League Two side had a storming game. But as said I didn't see the game so you tell me?

He made a decent assist (albeit slighlty lucky) and hit an assured peno but he could've been crap every single minute in between those two highlights for all I know.

He won't start, apparently there'll be 11 changes from Wednesday. Which thankfully means no Lucas as well. So more or less:

Reina
Johnson Carra Skrtel Konchesky
Gerrard Poulsen Meireles
Kuyt* Torres Cole

*hopefully fit, otherwise it'll Maxi again

That wasn't at all what I meant of course. Your crusade trying to prove that I'm to biased for my own good is getting tiresome.

Agger was most certainly as crap as the rest of the team against Northampton. I've only seen the highlighst and the only thing that took my by surprise was how easy it seemed the Greek got beaten in the air, as easy as the rest our defenders are getting beaten in the air at this day and age.

For all I know Agger could've just given the ball to the opponents, kicked Kyrgiakos in the back and thrown sand into Jones' eyes. It could've been all his fault but I can't comment on it as I haven't seen the bloody game and I never wil.

I'm not on a crusade, Kris.

Just pointing out things you've said yourself.

As I've said, I hope he does well.

You mentioned that their partnership was crap against Northampton. Did you even see the game?

I then replied that Kyrgiakos looked bad at their goal getting beaten in the air. Which kind of surprised me as I think of him to best weapon against hoofing teams we've got. I wasn't trying to take he blame of Agger's shoulders I was merely pointing out what I saw from the highlights.

Of course I didnt see the game.

I have no idea if he played well or badly; just pointing out that just playing Agger (your mantra) guaranteed nothing.

Your automatic (and predictable) response was to blame the Greek.

Hell, if the Danish Chronicle tomorrow says that the Greek was 100% to blame that would be just fine with me.

Actually it's hard to make out from that clip, I can't tell if Agger is the one marking the player or the one standing in the middle of the box who lets the ball just go across him. Shit defending all round anyway.

The only reason why I mentioned it were that people on here has been contemplating the idea of playing the Greek alongside e.g. Agger because of his strenghts in the air. We are in severe need of someone good in the air.

I wasn't trying to take any blame away from Agger. As I didn't see the game only the highlights as you may know by now.

Live with it.

Believe me or not I wasn't trying to make excuses for Agger nor blame others to make him look better.

I only mentioned it because I was surprised to see the Greek getting beaten so easily in the air.

We saw a lot of that last season. Players "loosing" his man who evidentally scores when all alone inside our box. I hate seeing the arms raised around an unmarked player inside our 5 yard box. In there we win the duells, clear the balls and ask questions later.

Kriss, I don't think anyone wants to rip into Agger, or you for that matter, it's just comments like this that gets peoples backs up:

And that Daniel Agger starts of course as we could use a few assists from the back as well.

It's so ridiculously biased and over the top, what is this based on? You make it sound like he does it every game, so he set up a goal against the Northampton? Great, it's not often you see him doing it anywhere else. Yeah he's capable and yeah he *can* be a brilliant ball player, but this constant bigging up of him is largely based on him being Danish and/or a good 'footballer', defensively we had a relatively experienced defence out on Wednesday and still conceded two soft goals, one of them with both centre backs not anticipating a header in the box, the two centre backs that everyone keeps maintaining are the best at shutting out aerial danger.

Is it possible to selectively ignore posters? I don't want to put KHL on ignore again, because he's often a good poster. But I would really like to avoid all those posts where he defends Danish players, or defends himself having defended Danish players, because it's getting waaaay beyond boring.

I'm sure that was your only reason and intention, Kris.

Indubitably so.

And I'm OK with it.

You just believe that then.

We're just ridiculously static at both ends when it comes to the ball being lofted into the area (especially from setpieces) we need to get a grip and start attacking the ball.

Wilson should have been subbed after 90 mins, cause he looked really tired when getting turned inside out for that 1-2 goal.

Also, if you're a centre back, then use a player in that position.
