The only real positive about last nights game is that the club is given a chance to make amends already come Saturday in what I think it's fair to call a MUST WIN game despite it's still early Season.

Here's the team I hope we field:

......................................REINA......................................

MAGIC.............CARRA............AGGER.......KONCHESKY

..................POULSEN..................GERRARD....................

COLE..........................RAUL....................................JOVA

......................................TORRES....................................

And then I'd be absolutely delighted if we actually took the game to their half within the first ten seconds and never looked back. No more waiting to the second half before starting to push players forwards freeing their shackles.

We need to take this game by the scruff of the neck and simply play Sunderland of the park.

My god is our left wing a shambles. I was just thinking on what basis does Jovanovich deserve a start, then I thought about Babel.

Sunderland are without 3 of their centre backs and Richardson. I think Cattermole is suspended, if you can't use the League cup for games and suspensions. Bramble is also a doubt after the arrest.
Gyan is also a doubt with injury.

Agree about the team, but Skrtel will start. And possibly Maxi over Jova.

That team is more than good enough to win. Let's hope they turn up, I want to see some attacking football and goals.

I was actually contemplating typing a X on the LW position instead of any actual names.

I miss Kuyt much more than a club of our stature should be missing a player like Kuyt but the alternatives seems just mediocre.

Perhaps Pacheco should be given another go I understand that he played decent last night and with better players around him he could thrive even more perhaps. The reason for picking Jova however was that he scored last night and perhaps in some odd way has gained a little confidence after all from that messy game.

I know mate you're probably right. But HOPE is my most sincere friend when it comes to our beloved club this day and age.

In our current state of despair, at best we can get is a 0 - 0 draw.
The best we can get is 10 - 0.

However by the looks of it I'd gladly take a shite performance and lucky 1-nil.

4-4-2 with a diamond midfield

Reina
Johnson
Carragher
Agger
Konchesky
Poulsen
Gerrard
Meireles
Cole
Torres
N'gog

This is a team i would consider...

.............................Reina..........................

Johnson......Carra.........Agger......Konchesky

Cole............Gerrard......Meireles..........Kuyt

....................N'gog............Torres.................

I'm not convined we have the wingers and the second striker for a flat 4-4-2, but we have got to try something new. Things have simply not been working.

I wouldn't mind this either

.............................Reina..........................

Johnson......Carra.........Agger......Konchesky

............................Poulsen............................

..........Gerrard....................Meireles.............

...........................Cole................................

.................Kuyt..............Torres.................

Sure I would gladly take a lucky scrappy 95th minute goal 1 - 0 win, with only one shot at goal all game long. But I will not waste any money betting on it.

Wahey Julian!

We should get Temasek Holdings to buy Liverpool and install the both of us as managers.

I'd go for a 4-3-3.

--------------- Reina
Johnson -- Carra -- Skrtel -- Konchesky
-------------- Poulsen
--------- Gerrard -- Meireles
Cole ---------- Torres -------- Patches

I'm liking this too....

For one, the forward 6 can hold on to the ball...

I am sure Temasek has plenty of spare cash sploshing around. Go for it man.
Plenty of MY money.

Hell why not?

Temasek hasn't made any 'good' investments for some time now. What's another 600m pounds to buy Liverpool?

I'd love a 10-0 too. ;D

This is the bread and butter and we'll have our best team out. I'd always thought this game would be a home banker. However after last night my confidence has been knocked. Are we really suddenly to become good enough to knock over 'supposedly' weaker teams or am I worrying unnecessarily?

------------------Reina----------------
Johnson--Carra-Skrtel-Konchesky
-----------Poulson-Meireles---------
-Kuyt-----------Gerrard------Cole--
----------------Torres------------------

Not necessarily 'my' team, but Sunderland aren't pushovers and considering most players played over 90 minutes last night and none of the established lads deserve to keep their place after that shithouse performance (The Greek, Lucas, Agger, Babel), that's about all we've got.
Is Kuyt back for this one?
Touch and go mate, he's back in training so Roy said it'll be Sunderland or the next Euro game.

We quite simply have to win this game.
It was always going to be a horrific start to the league, and our ressies losing to lower league oppo hasnt changed where we are. I dont care about the carling cup, and i dont think that result means anything other than i would rather we stayed in to give the kids more games, but being as he didnt really go 'youth' it hardly matters. The chances of seeing Suso, Pacheco, Shelvey etc in the first team have all but gone now.
Anyway, the tough games are gone, Meireles is bedded in, Cole is back, Kuyt is back, our first team has had a week off. No excuses, the season needs to start here with a good fucking drubbing of the Mackems.
We cant change whats gone, but we can start doing things better from here on in.

Would be my team, but Poulsen will play.

Yeah, that's more or less what I'd play, although I'd probably put Jova instead of Patches.

3 points is a must, anything but will see some real pressure on the manager. So he needs to pick an attacking line up, and unleash the shackles. A drab 1-0 win will not help him, even though I would take that right now.

In Jan 2008, The Economist reported that Morgan Stanley had estimated the fund's assets at US$159.2 billion.[4]

Now what is 600m pounds to Temasek?

Dead on Keni.

But I'd be fucking amazed if Roy ever went with anything so attack-oriented. Even at home. Against Sunderland.
