Liverpool v Chelsea Match Thread

Strange post, all based on hindsight.

Not really ... you could sense the pressure building up on our team ... non-stop attacks, poor clearances (bar Milner's) and then pop ... Klopp should have had a sub there already ... anything to try and stop the momentum ...

That being said, if you want to celebrate the 'great point' - happy to do so.

"We're under the cosh - NO SUBS - what the fuck? Conte has brought on non-stop attacking subs and Jurgen watches ... and watches ..."
That point wasn't hindsight, I was screaming for it in the match thread as it was happening, it was obvious for anyone watching that we needed to bring on a counter attacking thread to help release the pressure.

They were lucky

I think it was a fair result to be honest. Chelsea could have gotten a goal in the first half if not for Ming.

In the second, Hazard was caught offside when he shouldn't have or he wil be well clear. Gomez got lucky with the ball that went over his head to Alonso. Gomez also clattered into Morata in the box when he totally lost Alonso who shot over. Usually we get nailed for situations like this. We got lucky.

In the end our luck ran out with that fluke goal, disappointed but it's not the end of the world i guess.

Not happy with the ‘great point’ but its a fair result. Both teams were facing the same ‘non-stop attacks’, and it was only a fluke goal that saved them.

But hey, carry on with the lashing out if it makes you feel better.

Well that was fun. It's like repeat and rewind. No worries. I'll take a draw I guess. I thought Milner looked good in the middle and Studge was lively without doing that much. Also I won £70 quid on betting it would be 1-1.

When Manuel Neuer makes a mistake like that you can maybe call it a fluke, when Mignolet does it, that's just Mignolet.

All on klopp that.

Stupid lack of subs and he left exhausted players on for longer than he should

Moreno was fucked and getting zero support from coutinho or gini

Exactly. Our left side (coutinho and Moreno) were absolutely fucked. Zappacosta had free reign, and then they brought on a better player

No - we started great in the 2nd half, and it flipped ... we got back on top and scored and then Conte made subs to counter the balance. We did nothing. We were struggling to get a hold on the game and a goal was on the cards ... I'm amazed you didn't feel that coming considering what happened earlier this week ... the defense has improved since Spurs - but I think Klopp's major weakness is his substitution policy ... He rarely dictates ... And it's frustrating as today we should have won. Did we deserve it? No - a point is a fair result, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have heard Conte going on about 'unfair result to my team' and 'long travel' blah blah.

If this is me 'lashing out', I'm defo maturing with age thank the dear lord.

Just to check, coutinho and Henderson were absolutely fucking shite right?
Apparently that's a massive over reaction and lashing out because Henderson was actually okay.

Yes - complete shit; although Coutinho shrugged it off for a minute for the goal. Milner also much better in second half.

Never really hated a Liverpool player before, even Spitty 'the knob' Cheyrou or Charles 'whopper' Itandje (whom I just thought were bellends and dismissed), but I fucking despise Mignolet. I would happily watch someone set him on fire.

Chelsea were causing us danger all second half on Moreno's side and Klopp did nothing to counter it until it was too late. The only surprise was how long it took Chelsea to score. I don't even blame Moreno too much either as Coutinho didn't help him at all and often he was faced with having to mark 2 players by himself.
I can't stand Henderson these days and I'm fed up with him being a shithouse in tackles, we won't do fuck all whilst he's first choice at the club and for him to be the captain shows how few leaders we have. Having said all that a draw was a fair result as Chelsea could have been two or three up by half time but doesn't mean that once we were ahead we shouldn't have held on. Too many times this season we've let leads slip and Klopps game management needs to improve.

Coutinho had a few 'magic' moments, one leading to the goal, but aside from that was practically anonymous.

Henderson made a couple of decent passes, & a few runs forwards, but he was about as much use as a chocolate fireguard as soon as they applied any pressure, as per usual.

Ah, I forgot you have to be hyperbolic to post here.

Please accept my apologies.

All were cunts, we lost the last 2 games cos we were winning and the other team scored as many goals as us.

Klopp's in game Management is fuckin shite.
I've moaned at this since the first few matches he managed. He is great at managing a side pre match, & given half time to speak to them seems to motivate or organise them well enough to turn a game around.

However if the game is under way it's a whole different matter, he very rarely reacts quickly enough (or at all) to change the game, & seems to always think that the players on the pitch will be able to do it themselves, even when the opposition manager makes changes that target our weaknesses.

It's a big problem, & that combined with the general shithouseness of our players is often a fatal problem.

I thought we were defensively much better but we could do with a more assured (or more skilled) midfield. There was a time when a break was on after Chelsea had committed about half its side to attack but we chose a safe option and the chance was gone. Players are too thick by half, though.

Recruitment has to be smarter with more mentally better players needed.

I don't know what was up with Hoddle commentating on the game but he was so lazily negative it was irritating, saying 'because they're so zonal' they always look like conceding at corners, when we actually coped very well with most of them, and that 'you only need to lob the ball in the box and wait for them to make a mistake,' which again was generally wrong. Our defensive record at Anfield this season has been very good, so god knows what his research has consisted of.

As for the game, it was an absorbing contest, and that equaliser was a real kick in the nuts.

What also sums this up is man u manage 3 points with a deflected shot
We lose 2 with a miss timed cross

.

After the honeymoon period fans say that about most managers. They certainly said it about Houllier and Rafa and Rodgers. I think it's extremely rare to find managers who do react quickly enough (at least for fans).

I think he just toes the party line and says things that most other talking heads are saying. They are really stealing a living as expert summarisers..

I don't need to see the stats to know Henderson wasn't good enough again.
