Lets see if Cole can do anything in a home game , he really needs a big performance some game soon . Wonder if he'll be in behind Carroll with Kuyt our right or will Kuyt be up front .

so carroll's first start ....my big concern is that we start hitting too many long balls to him .I can't imagine it's Kenny's style or plan but when a team has a big man some players tend to take the easy option and go long . Hopefully we use his power and hold up strengths correctly and get some decent crosses in for him to attack .

Absolutely. Crosses are fine, but chasing long balls is just hopeless.
If we want him to hold up the ball, then play it to him on the ground and send runners for him to release the ball to.
This depends how they defend though, which will probably be deep, so I think getting the ball wide and trying to put a ball in is the way to go, in which case we'll be relying on the fullbacks more than anyone else.
Theoretically with the lineup we could be capable of both approaches, depending on what the opposition are doing.
