Liverpool v Braga THURSDAY MARCH 17

Tonight we were King of the Hoofball Merchants.

While we'll never walk alone, we'll walk in a crowd empty handed. The only silver we'll have is the fucking coins in our pockets.

We weren't hoofing because Carroll was in the team Neil. We were hoofing because we had a fucking shit midfield out there, with no pace, no imagination and very little skill.

A team with maxi and slow cole on the wings does not deserve to progress .Last years Braga team would have slaughtered us this year they are an avarage team with some really shit players and they still managed to kick us out :-[

Kenny is a novice in Europe and it showed. With a bench like we had tonight, we couldn't expect any other result. This tie was lost last week.

Carra was like a kid in a toy shop today. He just loved knocking the ball over the top.

I'm afraid that even if we get wingers, just having Carroll on the field is gonna encourage the lads to play hoofball from the back rendering our midfield obsolete.

You know who I'd play up front alongside Carroll?

Sterling. Give him 60 minutes to buzz around and latch onto Carroll's flick-ons, he's the closest thing to Suarez we've got. If not, we'll field quite possibly the slowest front 6 in football history.

Did I say quite possibly?

I didn't want us to sign Carroll because I hated it when we had Crouch and our players would just hoof it up to him, that's exactly what we done with Carroll all evening, and it was agonising to watch.

Serious question, but who did he leave off the bench that he could have had on it? I honestly can't think of who was left out.

the passing (when we did get it down) was way too slow and predictable. it's about the speed of passing and movement not the speed of the players. I'd say most of barca's team aren't that quick.

Truly terrible and pathetic squad we have that's devoid of skill and technical ability.

It feels like it'll be a few more seasons before we're going to have something to sing about again. Too many problems to fix but not enough money and time to do them.

Shite game and to top it off i've just found out that some cunt has nicked my wallet!

Oh well, at least we're one game closer to seeing the back of some of these toss pots

I'm really surprised at what we just saw ....i really , really thought we'd be smarter than going down the hoofball route . Seriously , is this the plan for the future? i really hope not

[/quote]We would have played exactly the same with Ngog or Kuyt up front Anita.
Were just shit.

Gerry that's the bench he had available. Gerrard, Agger, Aurelio, Kelly (and Suarez illegible) in the team would have raped Braga.

4-4-2 clearly wasn't working because we got overrun in midfield. 3-5-2 was the way to win this game.

I'm suprised how shit Joe Cole has become. Injuries seems to have killed any athleticism and ability he had. Yossi was a far better player.

I can't think of a single positive from this match, nothing at all..........

We can now concentrate on the league...

The problem is that he's forgotten that he's lost that ability and still keeps trying to hold on to the ball longer than he should. The number of times he goes from having one man to beat, to having two or three on him (and then losing the ball obviously) really frustrates me.

One positive was carroll's link up play , i didn't realise how good he was at deft little headers and flicks. So many times the ball came from out of the skies and he was able to cushion it right down for someone . OK none made a massive difference to the overall play but at least it's something .

Not much of a positive, but at least Carroll played the full game and looks to have come out of it unscathed.

I think special praise is required for how utterly ineffective Kuyt was at staying onside.

Shite game. Very static, no pace and hoof galore. We desperatly need wingers with pace. Our crossing was terrible, and Carroll didnt really get anything to work with. Maxi and Cole arent wingers and Kuyt was horrible. We really need to start crossing from closer to the byline, the hoofs from nearly our own half are extremely uneffectfull. But thats what you get with our current squad. Carroll needs games to get into shape.

Skrtel was a beast. That was his best game in a long time.
