Liverpool v Arsenal - League Cup - Match Thread

For fucks sake, lads... It's the fucking Milk Cup, or whatever it's called now, and we're playing with half a team. Why? Because this competition doesn't fucking matter...

People saying Klopp's messed up with this selection utterly baffle me. It's a glorified friendly.

Goalkeeper was wrong choice. And he should have a stronger bench. ‘‘Tis all

Also van den Berg is fucking horrendous. Fuck me. Klopp needs to slap some sense into him.

We knew from previous appearances that he’s nowhere near ready but I guess with Matip’s injury that’s the best we can do? How he was getting regular game time in the Dutch league I have no idea.

I’d have started Adrian in goal but otherwise it’s probably as good as we could put out.

We all know our squad depth is shit.

Why? An injury to either Alison or Adrian and this lad is our back-up... No harm in giving him another taste - He did well in the first game.

Also, all that matters in this tournament is that none of our real players get hurt - Anything beyond that is a bonus. So, respectfully, I couldn't care less about the bench... Our squad is thin enough, compared to City - Don't need any extra matches on already tired legs, come April & May.

Thing is when the youts look better than the olders it makes you wonder how origi is on the pitch over Elliot in the league but then football without origi is nothing so I don't know where I stand

Lallana - he's not going to ever be a good enough DM unfortunately. Not his fault the position isn't for him.

Origi - I wouldn't be surprised if we sell him in Jan and replace with Werner. He's done one or two good things, but some terrible passes and really should have buried that. Disappointing.

Gomez - He really should be trying to lead and he's been average at best - disappointing, he won't be unseating Lovren this way.

Ox - The most disappointing player for me due to that pass he scuffed from Lallana and that idiotic pass that gave Arsenal the push forward before their 1st (offsides goal). Listen, it's problematic as none of our midfield is struggling to link up to our front 3 but he really could be doing more.

Elliot - really talented attacking player.

Don't think he was mate ... 20 odd appearances.

Origi, Chamberlain, Keita, Lallana and that ginge CB - all total shit

Elliot looks our only genuine attacking talent

We have been lucky it’s only 2-3. Brewster playing like the Black Danny ings. He don’t like scoring

He is a strange one - the rest of the team plays to Klopp's system but Brewster does nothing that Bobby does. He doesn't look for the ball, try and make interplay etc. He plays like a number 9 who only wants to finish - which isn't a bad thing, but the system around him isn't geared for that and it doesn't ever quite work with him here. Disjointed.

Have to agree with @LeTallecWiz on Ox being the biggest disappointment so far. All he has done is get too excited every time he gets near the ball, overrunning it or taking a bad touch.

Not that impressed with Keita either but he’s trying to make it happen

Fucking ‘injury this, injury that’ whatfuckingever

Half-time ratings:

Kelleher - 4. Two weak parries contributed to goals.
Williams – 5. Beaten by the pacy Sako a couple of times, but tried hard and got forward as much as possible with good effect.
Gomez – 5. Solid in 1 on 1 duels, but can't organize the chaos around him.
Van der Berg – 3. Not ready, not even close.
Milner – 6. Good pen.
Lallana – 4.5. As the senior player in the DM position, he has to do much more and at the very least stop losing the ball cheaply.
Keita – 5. Tidy, but seems to be affected by the uncertainty around him.
Ox – 4.5. Good cross for the Mustafi goal, but his giveaway started our bad patch and he's done fuck all since.
Elliott – 6.5. Didn't see a lot of the ball, but usually made right decisions. Bonus points for an immaculate dive.
Brewster – 6. Made Arsenal defenders uncomfortable on a few occasions (doesn't take much to be fair), working hard and looking for his chances.
Origi – 4.5. Should do much better as a senior player with basics such as keeping the ball and defending when necessary.

I would bring in Jones and Adrian as soon as possible. Can Milner play CB?
