Liverpool related transfer speculation

Not getting Ibou renewed just to go after some poxy skinny cunt that looks about 12 is a farce, and a downgrade.

Virg and Ibou is a PL title winning CB partnership.

Got Hughes' filthy fingerprints all over this, can't stand the fucking prick.

Is he really a downgrade though?

Yes, Huijsen is a promising defender, but Konate is in his prime. We're losing pace, agility and strength with him leaving.
However, between him and Van Dijk, I'd say that Konate is the easier one to replace.
At their best, Matip and Gomez were better, in that order.

Konate still likes to randomly throw himself into stupid tackles. I’d still question his fitness too despite his current run.

With Trent going we may need his physical attributes less and more ball playing qualities.
This.. Konate always has one brain fart in him per game it seems. Nine times out of ten he can recover the situation, but I don't have him as irreplaceable.

At this point, absolutely. I mean who the fuck is Huijsen when he's not being overhyped as the next Van Dijk or whoever?

With Ibou you're looking at an elite level, established CB. More or less an ever present in a title winning side.

He’s definitely not irreplaceable. I think it’s pretty damning that the recent games we’ve been chasing he’s been brought off for an attacker and Gravenberch has been the CB/CM hybrid. To me that means Slot wants a defender which can do that from the off straight away.

In Konate's defence I think part of that is about protecting his fitness, he's looked ropey again of late though.

The biggest issue with Konate going is we lose an aerial beast. Huijsen (if he's the replacement) isn't that. So then that impacts our RB setup.

Not linked with him but KDB is miffed he’s not been given another contract and said he’d play for their rivals in the premiership.
He’s an outstanding player but passed his peek but he’d replace slobz any day.
I was just gonna post this. Surely we can get a tune out of him? Was he not a Boyhood red?

I think VVD re-signing means we don't go for the Bournemouth CB. Why would a 20 year old want to be cover/bit-part for the next 2 years? I'm sure he's a good player but the timing's not right. Kerkez on the other hand, I'd expect us to be after him.

Its been obvious we need more rotation in the backline to avoid fatigue and injury so with Huijsen we can afford to do that without hopefully seeing a drop off. If Hughes is going into conversation with Huijsen, he will assure him that he will get plenty of games especially towards the tail end of the season

I think people are underestimating Konate here. His fitness has been a concern (though not like Gomez) but generally he’s an excellent defender. Someone said he’s got a huge blunder in him per game - that’s not really something that springs to mind.
I think he can have games where he looks a bit sluggish, he looked like that last week and this week, but yeah I agree, I don't think of him as being someone who cocks up regularly. He's brilliant when he's fit and in form, it's the fitness that's the issue, which is why we need another centre half regardless of whether he stays or goes.

Three centre halves across two positions in 4 competitions means he would regularly play, especially with Konate's fitness. We've been fairly lucky with him this season, but he could easily have had a lengthy spell out. Quansah as cover would be ideal, I'm guessing Gomez might go, but he might be happy to stay as a versatile option when needed.

Virtually all CBs average at least one brain fart a game, Ibou less, he's a top CB and often in our Top 3 MotM places. Liverpool fans however have the best CB in the world in VvD for him to measure up to and that would be an unfair advantage for anyone.

His injury record isn't the best and lots a question mark over him but he's worth paying a top wage to keep, not £200k but definitely £150k when you consider both the cost and risk of changing him.

It's hard to really talk about wages like you are there - because the example I will keep using is that Robbo, who isn't a guaranteed starter and is **actually** making frequent errors that lead to goals, is on £160k. Ibu when fit starts every game and rightly so. I'd hate to be in a position where we are trying to bed in a new CB along with new LB, RB, and any midfielders or attackers we are also looking at buying.

Our next CB should be the heir to VVD IMO.
