Liverpool related transfer speculation

It's hard to really talk about wages like you are there - because the example I will keep using is that Robbo, who isn't a guaranteed starter and is **actually** making frequent errors that lead to goals, is on £160k. Ibu when fit starts every game and rightly so. I'd hate to be in a position where we are trying to bed in a new CB along with new LB, RB, and any midfielders or attackers we are also looking at buying.

Our next CB should be the heir to VVD IMO.
I doubt think we should or can use Robbo's salary in that context. Firstly he is Slot's first choice LB and therefore has been a guaranteed starter this season wherever possible,
Secondly he's been our first team choice, and an integral cog in our team, bringing us many trophies, over 7 years. That loyalty and his performance levels are what has put him on £160k and that's fair enough but it's not a bench mark.

Yeah we absolutely shouldn't be bedding in too many starters. However if Konate stays I think it'll only be LB as VvD, Konate and Bradley are nailed on (IMO).

Not getting Ibou renewed just to go after some poxy skinny cunt that looks about 12 is a farce, and a downgrade.

Virg and Ibou is a PL title winning CB partnership.

Got Hughes' filthy fingerprints all over this, can't stand the fucking prick.
We haven't said we're getting rid of him to go for a kid, we've said we're willing to think about an offer that's big enough, a lot depends on whether we think Ibou will sign a new contract. I bet you also think Trent is a prick for doing exactly what we are guarding ourselves from happening with Ibou.

Virtually all CBs average at least one brain fart a game, Ibou less, he's a top CB and often in our Top 3 MotM places. Liverpool fans however have the best CB in the world in VvD for him to measure up to and that would be an unfair advantage for anyone.

His injury record isn't the best and lots a question mark over him but he's worth paying a top wage to keep, not £200k but definitely £150k when you consider both the cost and risk of changing him.
To get a defender of Ibou's quality you would have to pay over £150k a week plus a huge transfer fee. I think he is worth £200k.

If we were basing it on quality then he's worth it, because of our structure (rightly or wrongly) I hope this means we are learning that throwing money at players and disregarding their fitness issues is counterproductive in some cases. We can't moan we haven't got money to spend but then be happy that we throw silly money at a player who then gets injured for months at a time. I like Ibou and hope we can work something out, but I also get the logic if you have a PSG or Barca willing to offer a massive fee, when we could then sign two quality up and coming defenders for the same cost.

The difference between £150k and 200k is about £2.6m a year. However, letting players run down their contracts has cost the club far more.
Up top we could be stronger with our negotiations as all 4 players (Nunez, Diaz, Cheesy and Jota) have their position in jeopardy. And if the club saw it fit to transfer all 4 and get in 3, its not something I would object to too much.
