Liverpool related transfer speculation

I think we are going to have to see one hell of a summer with lots of ins and outs. Slot has shown he just isn't able to use a squad, and it has to be that he doesn't trust players he inherited. If that is the case - bring in ones you do.

We have players who simply can't be part of any continued push to win the PL next season. If we don't get a worldie season from Mo, we need better players than Nunez & Jota up front. We need more than just three midfielders that Slot trusts. He doesn't even use Jones as much as he probably could/should.

It could be one hell of an exciting ride next season - if we think about how well our midfield rebuild did in just one window (Macca, Gravy, Szobo, Endo). If we can do that across the defence or forwards then Slot 2.0 could be brilliant. If we don't and rely on just 13/14 players all season I fear for next season.

Can we also sign someone who can instill a proper big game mentality in the players too. I think Virg as captain is great, but he is a relaxed mofo and doesn't look to get people going from the first minute. This needs to change ASAP.

Not defending his non-rotation policy, but this could explain it.

I think Slot initially wanted to establish his style of play, so naturally he picked his favoured 11 and tried to get them to understand his system.
It is possible that the results were better than expected. Combine that with Arsenal and especially City falling behind and suddenly we were front runners in a title race.
Slot wanted to keep the momentum going so he didn't make any big changes.

I don't see why not TBH. They play in different positions and both are excellent all-round footballers.
Yep. As Modo and others have already said - if there is someone else we have to give the defenders some threat to nullify, then Salah will be free to be more effective too. Nunez was meant to be that post Mane, but unfortunately that has not come to pass. Isak would absolutely restore that double threat and allow Salah more space again.

Nope, it won't be. We may have several incomings, but they will not map with the number of outgoings. If we lose most of Salah, VVD, TAA, Jota, Nunez, and Diaz, we might get one signing in the 50-70 range, a couple in the 30-40 range, and one below.

We will also spend a lot of time chasing a unicorn player who likes us but does not want to commit to us, as Madrid is also interested. We get close to the selling club valuation but do not quite meet it.

Bluebell will throw toys out of the pram for us, not buying every player in Europe and South America below the age of 23 with a YouTube compilation. Keni, King Binny, and I will post valid concerns. Stevie M will treat all of us as one monolithic group and argue for patience, as the transfer window has not shut yet. Once it shuts, the posts will become gentle accusations of us wanting to be like Chelsea or a state-run club.

The one thing that is guaranteed is a sense of dissatisfaction with not having done enough when the window shuts—a classic FSG summer.

The season will start, and we will find out if Slot is a magician like Klopp who can find solutions for an imperfect squad.

Are fichajes in any way reliable? They have us after Alvarez, Xavi Simons and Bastoni, which would be nice.

Sounds fishy

We've been linked with Alvarez and Simons before, I think. Bastoni is a really good left-sided centre back, so that would make sense.

I like the look of him in attacking areas. No idea what he's like defensively. He's used to playing with three CBs behind him, so there would have to be some adjustment on his side. There's nothing to say that Slot couldn't play both Bradley and Frimpong if Salah is fucking off and we being in a decent CF. That raw pace and creativity would be welcomed.

Didn't someone say the other day that his best stats were actually achieved in a back four?

Or… more likely it’s nonsense, but leaked to show a willingness on our part to sell Jota, with a price mentioned, to smoke out any interest.

He’s the sort of player that Newcastle might look at if they want to expand their squad for CL football and want a bit of experience.

Not at £55m like…

I imagine the Arse could look at Jota. They have a history of buying injury prone players and paying top dollar for them

File this under things that never happened.

Their supporters have given Jota so much stick every time we play them, quite unreasonably so. And that price. JFC.

Jota ideally needs to be out the door. We can't rely on him, he takes 3-4 games to get up to speed, he's getting older (as injuries don't miraculously disappear when you hit 30).

I agree Jota should go but I'm not sure we'll be able to sign 2 strikers this summer, so he might just hang around another year. We've got so much other business to do, unfortunately.

Right back is a no-brainer. Aina is available on a freebie; he’s 28, very good, started every game this season (reliable), very good disciplinary record and likes to get forward.

He will offer Bradley serious competition and will be reliable as a regular starter if Bradley injury problems persist.
Careful I suggested him a few months back and the lazy Harvey Barnes references resurfaced. Don’t want you get lambasted.

For Clarity he is 100% a no brainer!

He’s 29 in October, has had one good season in his career in a defensive minded team that plays an entirely different style of football to us, and even they only offered him a one year contract on a free, he has never before been linked with a top tier team and he’ll fuck off mid season to AFCON.

The “no brainer” part would be not touching him with a barge pole due to the multiple red flags.

If we're unable to sign 2 strikers in a 2 month period then Hughes is shite. It's not like his struggles will be a shock by the end of the season, it's been apparent for all to see.

We should already be communicating with a main first choice, and a more than competent backup, or a versatile player who can play at the 9, 10, or wings.

As an example, Isak and Cunha.

Sorry I meant that I don't think we'll have the money to do it. Although that was based on us signing for lots of other positions as well. It's just my hunch that we'll spread ourselves quite thin this summer.
