Liverpool related transfer speculation

Build the team around a loanee... Surely not

Translation issue.

Giorgi Mamardashvili is not guaranteed to move to Liverpool this summer, unless Alisson departs, and the number one shirt is up for grabs.

That’s according to Cadena SER, via Estadio Deportivo, who report that Valencia would like to keep the goalkeeper for another year also.

They explain that Mamardashvili will be one of the biggest names in Valencia’s upcoming transfer window as the Georgian goalkeeper must decide his future.

He needs to choose between returning to Liverpool or staying at Valencia for another year. The Spanish side would like to keep him so they can plan their squad around him next season.

However, Mamardashvili would like to secure a better deal at the Mestalla. He does not want to stay at Valencia under his current terms as he is losing a lot of money in the current loan deal from Liverpool. That’s despite him being one of the highest paid in the Valencia squad.

That’s led to him considering the move to Anfield this summer, but he doesn’t want to be on the bench if Alisson does not depart. He would prefer to stay in Spain, where he is first choice, until the Brazilian heads elsewhere in that scenario.

Its left his future ‘up in the air’, with him waiting to see if Valencia offer better terms or Liverpool ensure he’ll be number one before deciding between the two.

Now we should point out this directly contradicts Super Deporte, a Valencian newspaper, who stated this week that he’s going to Liverpool, and it’s all done.

We’d be inclined to believe them on that front so will take this latest report with a pinch of salt for the time being.

Real Madrid sounds the most likely, but wouldn’t mind getting this lad:

Spurs can fuck off. He won't go there.
Newcastle would have to get a CL spot. So would Chelsea.

It's between us and Arsenal imo. I think we're in pole position. Dutch coaching staff, Dutch players, even a team mate from the Spanish u21 team in Bajcetic.
If we can convince him that he'll get a lot of game time despite being third choice, he'll definitely come. Van Dijk will move on in 2 years so he has a clear path to become a starter with us.

Also there's this:

I may be reading this wrong but he must be sadly mistaken if he thinks he gets to choose.

I would be open to selling him to Valencia, and letting Kelleher know that we believe he can be #1. With his run of games earlier this season he was mostly imperious. Why wouldn't we stick with that and invest elsewhere. Jaros is also a brilliant keeper, should Ali leave.

Money needs to be prioritised elsewhere IMO and if we could get money for Marshmallowgk then let's do it.

Yes please!
Step overs, nutmegs, backheels...
He's definitely a fun player to watch, but if he's going to join LFC, he'll need to work on his fitness. While he isn't the quickest player, his technique on the ball makes up for it.

Who’s the best #1 for Liverpool if Allison leaves - which he is not. Kelliher or Marma?

I feel like Keliher knowing his team so well and the players for a lot but seeing Ali come back in and making wonder saves - not sure Kelleher makes those

For me Kelleher provides a level of continuity that is important, and he's brilliant with the ball at his feet. Whilst i've in the past shown some skepticism of him, I felt he looked and performed like a #1 for a title winning team this season and so why upset the apple cart. Show him and others there is a serious path to the first team from the academy. Show others that patience and performing when asked gets rewarded.

Valencia have no money though, which is why they sold him to us.

It seems like a poorly planned transfer though as Ali isn't ready for the bin just yet.

No, if we spend anything north of 20M on an LB is criminal.

Get right out of here with that. I'd be fine if Kerkez was our primary signing, going for close to 50m tbh.

We get cooked down our left side far too often and, assuming we give Bradley a chance on the right, we need to be strengthening somewhere in our backline.

Kerkez is an absolute unit both going forward and defending.

If he came to LFC, it would be most ideal for him to be around someone like Mo. To see the workrate he puts in the gym.

Cherki looks too comfy in being a big fish in a small pond. He needs to be pushed. Talent alone isn't enough unless he's happy to be a Payet-type regen at a mid-table club like West Ham. His ego to be recognised as the best player in the team would either see him become overwhelmed and sink pretty fast here, or put the gym work in to swim.
