Liverpool related transfer speculation

Well obviously it's hyperbole, which club isn't interested in winning?

I just think our interest in winning comes with caveats. Too many caveats.

Because we should have another striker and Nunez apparently is a non-entity.
Jota dies ever two weeks.
Diaz is a winger.
Something's gotta give.

Can't keep waiting until the next season. We did it last year and lost everything. Except the fucking league cup.

It all comes back round the same three points I made. Who can we buy who is better than what we have, is available and wants to come here.

We also need to make space available in the squad too. Who is going to buy Jota or Nunez? I doubt any serious clubs look at them and think oh yea they could do a job for me.

The reason we were fucked by the end of last season our injury situation. The final 6 weeks of the season we had nothing left in the tank.

Everyone is losing their shit is because of drawing away to the third place team in the league and a Trent lobotomy against Man U. We’re still massive favourites to win the league, as good as guaranteed to qualify for the next phase of the champions league and a win against spurs for another league cup final.

Win today, Tuesday and Saturday then everyone will be circle jerking again.

Wanting to win - there is saying and there is doing...

we are decent though, but should keep building and improving
I agree. Last season we bid for Lavia and Caicedo then ended up with Slobby, Mac and Gravy. Last summer we were so close to landing Zubimendi which needed a last minute u turn from the player for it to fail.

The club are trying to improve but they’re not buying just for buying sake. That will just disappoint us all.

One could argue, on the back of key players getting on, that the model of first choice or nowt, is quite flawed.

I've no doubt everyone at the club wants us to be successful, as thats good for business. We are run, after all, by businessmen. However i do believe the management have a threshold of "ok we'll pay this much to be successful" and want to stay as close to that line as they can. Its always been the way. We rarely invest unless we're certain of future outgoings.

Its like in the summer we were willing to spunk 60m on Zubi, but now we're convinced Gravy is the real deal, we're not looking there any more and letting Arsenal have a free run?

Ok, we know nunez is shite and needs to go, but there's not a tiny inkling that maybe we need to go "hey, lets go all out to sell in the summer, but maybe so teams don't have us over a barrel, we buy a striker now". Same with left back. Same with Centre back. Same with Right back.

We've done well with a good squad. We've also seen near enough this exact squad fall apart at the final hurdles last year. The year we went for the quad.

We seemingly repeat the same mistakes again and again and again.

Yes it might be pussy-esque to react this way, yes maybe i do need to be more viking. But maybe i am just so fucking tired of keeping my head buried in the sand as the same mistakes are done week in, week out

Start off well. Couple of injuries cause us to stagger. Start playing players out of position. Jan comes with a few injured. Jan goes, no signings or the wrong signings and more get injured. Brave battle to keep going. Stumble. Disappointment.

That description could describe about 4 seasons in recent memory

Ok I am convinced. Let's not do anything and hope everything will work out by itself.

Because that's how championships are won.

tbf its how we won our only title in the last 30 years
That was peak Klopp, we were always going to challenge. We got lucky with Slot, we were never meant to challenge, let alone becoming the favourites. Let's hope that same luck runs for the entire season since we are obviously adverse to doing anything more.

There’s loads of good points in here.

It’s entirely plausible that we were after Zubi because very few thought Gravenberch could hit the heights we are seeing. Now we’ve seen it the club has decided we don’t need Zubi and will look for other targets.

We’ve started to see the same mistakes happen this season as last. I think it’s to do with the manager rather transfers. In the whole, Slot is doing well managing the minutes of certain players like left wing and also the more forward midfielders. Where he’s disappointing me is a reluctance to switch out gravy and Mo giving them both too many 90 minutes. That is already showing fatigue in two key positions.

I see our biggest issue is being second half FC. The slow starts piss me right off because it gives the opposition confidence and also time and space to attack down our right. When we do turn it on they don’t get a sniff. I’d rather us do it from the start. Again, same mistakes from Klopp’s final two seasons.

The ideological refusal to sub salah does annoy me, but i understand the rationale. Hes our top scorer and our top creator, and whilst the midfield isn't helping, he needs to play every minute in important games.

The gravy thing i don't get. Yes, Slot likes to play with a foot forward progressive player in the 6....but we don't have 2 of those so why on earth do you not just play with Endo and macca a little deeper to assist progressive play? There has to be wiggle room , as we've seen him change tactics on the fly many times. I refuse to accept that Endo cannot be trusted at the 6.

There's a lot the manger is doing that makes me question things, but equally theres more he's doing so right. If we've moved away fro mthe manager being involved in transfers and just a coach; then i'm sure he'd be elated to get some new toys to play with. I'm sure theres a list of players sitting on a spreadsheet thats not been opened since July.

If theres one thing you want in a football club its ambition. Its why Arsenal were rightly mocked for being happy to achieve 4th year in year out. I just want ambition. Not leagues won by a singular players individual brilliance. An actual support to the manager, rather than a punt on a 15m injured italian and a keeper he won't get to meet for 12 months.

How many summers were we promised a warchest? The closest we've come is 2 summers ago, with macca, gravy, szob and endo coming in (was nunez that year?). That didn't happen out the blue of course. We lost thiago, fabinho, henderson, and probably another cunt (ox?), as well as bobby. Incomings only happen with outgoings. We know theres going to be outgoings in the summer (Nunez, jota?, tsimi/robbo, trent, a keeper).

I just want a bit of proactivity

So come summer we could be looking at the following departures
Trent
Salah
VVD
Robbo
Diaz
Darwin
Morton
How much would that cost to replace, I doubt it can be done in 1 window?
