We'll sign Rory Donnelly from Cliftonville for 100k (Ryan can pay that) and he will turn out to be the best value buy ever netting 20 goals before the end of the season.

He will miss ( taking into account the 14 day suspension for appeals) :

Man City (A) (league) This falls on day 14
Oldham (H) (FA Cup)
Man City (A) (League cup)
Stoke (home (league)
Bolton (A) (League)
Man city (H) (League cup)
Wolves (A) (League)
Spurs (H) League) 6th Feb 2012

All in all ,its only a month without Suarez - I think we can handle those fixtures without Suarez..
[/quote]

I thought the 14 days was the duration within which an appeal could be launched? An appeal, once launched, surely lasts as long as an appeal lasts - it can't be limited as such, can it? An appeal could drag on for ages.

Also, is it 14 days from the verdict or from the release of the judgementy thing we're waiting on?

It often happens when a teams best player is out through injury or suspension, the rest of the players pick up the slack. We're now missing Gerrard, Lucas and Suarez, hopefully this will mean the likes of Carroll, Kuyt and Downing will step it up a gear.

To be honest, as a team we've been playing half decent stuff recently.

I'd still fancy us to beat most sides even without our star man, as any top four side should be able to do.

Could be the making of Andy Carroll, too.

does everyone think the 8 games will stand?

I was fairly sure it would be reduced on appeal but I haven't seen anyone else thinking that

As I said to mates earlier, I've got nothing to base it on as the facts havent been outed as of yet but I've got a feeling it'll be reduced down to 5/6.

I then however think they'll slap another 2 games on him for the finger at Fulham, so we'll be back at 8.

Yea that's what I was thinking 5/6 and the others suspended.

I forgot about the finger thing but anything from that could hopefully be suspended or just a fine, certainly less than Rooneys swearing directed at the camera.

Hopefully that'll get him back for the united match, I'd be delighted if he plays against them.

The FA's stance is if you appeal the decision there's a good chance the ban will be extended for wasting their time. So it could actually work the other way.

True it could be a gamble, but surely extensions would only ever happen for frivolous appeals where the incident and outcome shouldn't be disputed. I don't think there's any way an appeal to this wouldn't be justifiable.

Surely the wording of the fa decision alone gives us cause to question the judgement

...and to expect that the penalty would not be extended whatever the outcome of the appeal itself.

All of this would be open to legal challenge anyway. If it ends up going against us that's exactly what we should do.

He's been hung out to dry in todays papers, probably to be expected really..

The FA have hardly come out and crucified him- theyve slapped a ban on him which does the talking for them..

Don't know why people are getting stressed

Jonjo is back and has already proven he's undroppable

It is not stress. It is anger!

jonjo and carroll are going to go apeshit on the pitch and enter a frenzy of goal-gettering

Yes, but they abuse that threat far too often. This isn't a ruling that should just be meekly accepted. Even the FA ought to realise how incoherent it is. Given the paucity of evidence it sets a precedent that could cause chaos over the coming years.
