@Holle, you're in
@FoxForceFive you've been in for ages

Yep, he's always seems a little off to me, sure there has always been potential, but I have always thought he was a bit more raw than you've thought. However this season he's really grown and matured as a presence on the pitch, the presence, almost authority he seems to have is quite a rare trait, it's something which is a bit Gerrard about him, it's great to see. He's certainly grown quicker than I imagined this season, if he can cut out those silly challenges and keep growing, he'll be some player, and he'll be it really quite soon.

The authority is one of the things I fell in love with first. Everyone remember the league cup game that Roy threw all the kids into the Northampton game. Shelvey actually tried to pull that game by the scruff of the neck. He demanded to take corners and free kicks and almost made things happen. He's a leader.

Yeah this wank-fest over Shelvey is all well and good, but next game he plays, sure as eggs is eggs, he'll be shite.

Sorry Fabio, but I've noticed a clear pattern with Shelvey, which goes: good, shite, good, shite, good, shite......

He was good against the Young Boys ergo, he will be shite. I still have to say that the ball bounces off him regularly too (this even happened against the YBs). He needs to work on controlling sharp passes. And on being shite in 50% of his games.

If he's shite against utd, I wouldn't be surprised or disheartened

Not many 20 year olds do well against the mancs

I don't actually think he's a footballing genius. (I just support him like he is one though, the beautiful dumby). But he's what we need. He can play possession football and he can chip in with goals and assists. I'm so glad we signed him because I do think he has the natural ability to grow into being an upper echelon footballer.

Yeah, but the pattern dictates that it could be any team and he'd still be shite. In all the games where he's been shite this season thus far we haven't played United once.

If he's shite I'm happy to admit it,and tbh I don't think he'll do too well tomorrow. Consistency is something that should come with consistent starting. Hopefully by mid season he'll be consistently good.

He has all the raw tools. Hopefully he'll develop as I hope, because he's got everything in his locker.

The one raw tool missing is pace. He hasn't even that burst of pace over 10 yards that allows him to get away from people. And his controlling of passes is decidedly iffy. I really like him, and I love his attitude, I just don't think we're ready for a game of soggy biscuit round Shelvey just now.

When we signed Jonjo, Charlton announced they were in talks with LFC to form a 'strategic partnership'. I guess that didn't happen?

Part of a Charlton statement read: 'As part of the potential transfer, the two clubs are also in talks to develop a strategic partnership involving the development of players in both directions.'
