BTW, despite not having read them in-debt I always though that Piedro's drunken posts were just generally good natured piss taking, coloured a bit by his lack of sobriety. I didn't think there was any harm intended in them.

I only met him once and thought he was sound but as he is a self confessed cunt I was clearly wrong.😉

So that's that then.

Oh, and could the haters stop having a go at downing? He played well last night. Yeah, he missed a penalty, but other than that he put in a decent performance. It may not have been world beating, but he made some very clever runs, both on and off the ball, and his crosses weren't half bad either.

I admired downings bottle to step up for the pen. No goals on the league but he wanted to step up.

Credit where it's due.

I'll miss maxi

I really enjoyed that.

Great to see the likes of Hendo and Carroll leading the way with superb performances (+Jonjo to a lesser extent).

Souness made a good point about Stevie needing to play deeper next season, and i hope Kenny is thinking along the same lines. Lucas/Stevie for the holding midfielder role, and Hendo, Shelvey + new signing should be given the chance to fill the more advanced midfield positions.

Mate, Souey's a good pundit (way better than he was a manager) but I have yet to be convinced about Stevie playing deeper. That position never suited his temperament before, and that's something which is unlikely to have changed just because he doesn't quite have the engine he used to have.

I really liked the Henderson, Shelvey midfield, it's telling that it bossed a Essien, Romeo and Malouda midfield, this game will do them both the world of good, hopefully we'll see them ready for next season.

It was ramires in midfield rather than malouda

So it was even BETTER

If he wants to prolong his Liverpool career as long as possible, then he's going to have to adapt mate imo.

He's not the player he was and as of such we need to stop relying on him to win us games. As far as i'm concerned he can contribute to the team best by playing a more withdrawn role and at the same time passing some of the responsibility on to his team mates.

If we can get our summer signings right, then Stevie's days as an automatic starter should be over.

I agree with most of that, but I don't think moving him deeper is the right way to go about it. It simply isn't a position to which he's suited. On the contrary, I'd play him further forward and, as you say, not expect him to start (or finish) every game.

The reason these threads get locked is they go wildly off topic. This one is close to being locked too.

Use the forum properly please.

I admire your generosity - really good of you. I don't think they are haters / more like disappointers. We signed a 20m winger that cannot provide an assist or a goal (one was it in the fa cup?) in an entire season in a league he has played in for 7 years. He is a picture definition of a flop, and for me is painful to watch. He could have had a hatrick last night, it wasn't and isn't enough. Please go Downing as fast as you can.

I wouldn't be sad if Downing never played for us again.

He did some good things last night, but the number of times he remained static behind Johnson or whoever almost refusing to make a run on the off chance that he'd get the ball was criminal. Then he'd make some bullshit token run when with three defenders on him and no hope of receiving the ball.

I've never paid *that* much attention to the whole Downing is a coward thing before but for me it was well on show last night. He's fucking small time and I hope we are lucky enough to send him back to a small time club in the summer.

We've won 5 times in the league this year. 3 of those wins came when Gerrard was rested. Hmm.

You would be right. I only post when pissed. FACT.

Essien-Tackle.gif

Good grief. There was talk in the media last night of Suarez being had up for wrapping an arm round Ivanovic's neck. If the FA do that and don't act on that vicious tackle from Essien, we should drag their fat @rses into court pronto. That's nothing short of assault.
