If that is going to be the case then we would have had an astounding transfer window .... Gerrard is still miles and miles ahead of any other midfielder we have and indeed most in the league. Ridiculous to think that he would not be an automatic starter for us next season.

You've been banging that drum for awhile now. I'm coming around to it. Currently, I think the team does play better without Gerrard like Arsenal improved when Henry was sold.
I don't give a fuck about Chelsea .. I give a fuck about us next season and we've been in this situation before (starting out a month before everyone else) and it doesn't end happily. So CFC to win CL and us to have a damn good 12/13 season with auto CL qualification (meaning Top 3), I'd take it.

Why do we get a few more weeks rest if Chelsea win the EC?
Well, they were stagnating with him in team and playing poorly while his talents dwindled. Than they sold him and all of a sudden everyone starting playing better; RvP and Fabregas started playing much better when he was sold. They became the center of an improved team.
Because they go into the CL (instead of the EC) and we advance into the group stages (in place of Chelsea) instead of having to play qualifiers (5th place get that honour).

Did you put your little grey cells into gear before you wrote that ? It's not the EC I'm worried about .... it's that starting a month earlier than other teams right after the EC could fuck us up for next season .. as it's done in the past.

We'll probably send our 2nd string to play the EL qualifiers and let our senior players have their rest.
No we won't Jimmy, we'll play our best team because we can't afford (both financially and to keep players happy by giving them games) not to reach at the very least the group stages.
I'm not so sure about this mate. My memory is far from what it used to be, but i seem to remember "strange" lineups being sent by Rafa to qualifiers in the past, giving the big guns some rest. And that was enough at the time.

This massive squad thing is a total load of bollocks. You don't get better at stuff by not doing it. You don't get many golfers not playing very often and then playing the odd championship and winning it. I know that everyone has a million players now but it's fucking stupid. I know because I'm an expert in these things.
Well, made some quick checks and in some cases we did play the 2nd string (e.g. Rbotnicki) while in others (admittedly more) cases we did call the big guns in.
So we'll have to wait and see.
Anyway, I'm not sure I want Chelsea to win the CL. I quite like the "you ain't got no history" chant 😉
RvP started playing well when he wasn't injured every other match, nothing to do with Henry
that's just how many times each chelsea player got megged.
