Another defeat for the U18s today at The Academy. They started off quite well with some neat passing. Josh Sumner, the left winger went on a few mazy runs and Liverpool took the lead after being awarded a penalty for handball. Conor Coady pissed from the spot but put in the rebound.
WBA drew level from the spot, their penalty also being awarded for handball. Liverpool lost their way after that and were quite hurried in their passing and apart from the penaltys there wasn't much in the way of attempts on goal.
WBA took the lead before half time with a well worked goal down our right, their play placed it well into the far corner.
After the break Liverpool had a bit more purpose about them but no-one really stood out. Michael Ngoo stepped up quite considerably and drew us level with a well placed header from a corner. However, two sloppy pieces of defending from crosses un did us and WBA pulled away 4-2. We certainly had plenty of chances to not only get back in but also draw level but poor finishing and the crossbar denying a rasping shot from going in meant a defeat.
Conor Coady seems a bit one paced but my word he covers some ground. But once again it was Michael Ngoo who stood out from the crowd. He has a great touch for such a big fella. Man of the match for me.
