LFC Museum - Photos from my Visit

On my recent trip to the UK I visited my parents in North Wales and decided to go over to Liverpool to visit places from my youth - my how Liverpool has changed ! I thought the work done downtown was brilliant and a lot of the changes have been for the better.

However the main reason for the visit was to go back to Anfield - for a number of reasons. The first stop was the memorial, it is at the back of the ground and very quiet there except for the flow of tourists viewing the memorial. I knelt to say a prayer for the 96 and touchingly someone laid a hand on my shoulder as I did. It was a very emotional few minutes for me even though I did not lose a relative at Hillsborough. YNWA.

Next I thought I'd go where I have never been - to see the changing rooms and the tunnel (via the Anfield Tour) however it was not to be :
"is there room on the next Tour for one mate" ?
"have you booked " ?
"nah just hoping for a cancellation"
"sorry mate all full - you best book on line ...... 8 weeks in advance"
"bloody hell" !!

There were camper vans and tourist buses from all over Europe outside, Slovakia, Germany, France, Spain, Nederlands ....... unreal !

OK so instead it was a Museum tour (it's free so if any of you have not been there it's well worth going a couple of hours earlier than usual to a match just to visit - if it's open on match days). I spent 2.5 hours there and had a great time reliving memories of days gone by. Seeing video clips I hadn't seen before and learning facts I didn't know. All around me were Liverpool fans from all over Europe. Lovely it was !

The following photos are some taken from inside (sorry I did not take any pictures of the Memorial outside - I just couldn't) the museum and outside the gates. For those of you who may never get there - I hope you enjoy them.

In all seriousness, nice pics, but those white trousers are a big no-no.
[/quote]

WHITE ! No way - they were beige, must be the reflection and the overhead light that makes them look MUCH lighter than they were !

Oops sorry don't want to spoil Gene's fantasies - actually I was in the buff so that must have been the reflection off my bum.

Great Photos mate..

Must be a decent camera.

Thanks mate. I had my tourist camera with me, a Sony HX1 (easier to carry around) and left the flash off for most photos.

The liverpool tour and museum is brilliant. The 'guide' took us through so many small details we normally would not give a second thought to such as the cover thats pulls out for away clubs in case someone throws somethin at them. The managers askin cleanin staff to give an extra polish to the visitors changing rooms in the hope one of the players wil slip. The trophies and videos and tributes its brilliant. I appreciate it so much more,i went on the barca club tour and it was pretty pants in comparison. After we went lfc tour we drove to brum to see liverpool beat bham 7-1or whatever it was.good times. Plus sorry frogy i cant see photos from my phone.i wil view them tomorrow

I have half a dozen identical glass tankards in my loft, my mate was on Heighway's testimonial committee.
I keep meaning to stick them on ebay although I might be up for offers 😉

I've been on the stadium tour twice- the first time, my wife, and the wife of my scouse mate had secretly booked tickets for a game and the stadium tour and meal in a box on the Friday before. We ate our meal with a video of some classic season playing on the screen. And then we went on out and got hammered. Great times.
