I noticed the whole Bulgarian team sang their national anthem compared to three (I think) England players singing ours. Also I remember Ashley Cole getting the words wrong a while back. The best was when the second verse started in the world cup, and the shocked and confused look on the whole team, before they just sang the first verse again.

The seven penalties weren't "from midfield".
 
I don't think there's any real mystery about this personally. IMO Lampard's taken stick because people think he's been picked too often for England who, as a direct result, haven't seen the best of Stevie G, by far the better all-round player of the two and someone who would have helped England massively if the team had been built around him. It's unfair on Lampard IMO, (a) because it wasn't his fault he got picked and (b) his scoring record IS a good one, but that hasn't been enough to make up for what England have lost by p!$$ing away a player like Stevie.

No body realizes what a big fuck up England have made by making him a bit of a peripheral influence. He should have been the Captain about 5 years ago... Brave JT and Lampard have really really hampered England's chances more than they have helped it. After all this when Capello gave the captaincy to Ferdinand was the fucking pits. Ferdinand the leader....fuck off.

Gerrard didn't help himself with that petty brawl in the bar, but still Capello has made some woeful decisions. Prime among that is persisting with Gareth fucking Barry even today. I can't forget how laughably stupid he was in the world cup.
 
The only thing I remember about that World Cup is Ozil absolutely destroying Barry for pace. It was if Gareth was running in glue.

So glad we didn't sign him.

The shouty guy, Darren fletcher.. Was saying he scored 3 v arse n 2 v Bulgaria n v the Brits should put him on a pedestal.
Some guy called n said he is no doubt a good player but we big him up too much n then put pressure on him.. Fletcher went nuts n said the argies big up messi, the Germans do same with ozil n Spain with iniesta why do we put down Rooney.

i cant remember which goal it was exactly but it was one of the crucial ones.... goal kick or a german hoof .... terry.... 20 full yards up the pitch for no reason out of position.

Yup, he gets ridiculously maligned. He's probably the closest thing I've even seen to Gerrard. Top, top player and I'll stand by my prediction that he'll end the season as top scorer.

Yup, made the same prediction.

Someone on here the other day was saying he was "the most overrated player ever etc etc". He scored a hat-trick the next day against Arsenal, and ripped the absolute dick out of them.

Yeah, there's nothing the knuckledragging no-neck can't do on a football pitch. Ginsoak's even got him controlling his temper better.
 
For me my major criticism of rooney is his lack of consistency. He doesn't annihilate teams weekly. He goes through spells of doing it then sits back for a few weeks.

I hope he quits before they drop him, plus from an England pov he should replace barry in that lineup if and when required
