Italy vs England

They miss Terry. Jagielka was alright but he isnt good enough.

Where was Johnson for the goal? Cahill was marking Balotelli but Johnson was in the middle for some reason.

That's a common question, that-- "... where was Johnson?" I also partly blame Joe Hart's positioning for the goal.

But, isn't Terry's greatness achieving mythical proportions since his retirement?

Has anyone seen much of Costa Rica? I haven't seen enough of them to judge how good they were or how bad Uruguay were in that match, so my brain basically short-circuits when I ponder the next two matches!
Costa Rica are fucking shit and Uruguay are even shittier without Suarez of course.

I was surprised to see how Uruguay was, to be honest. Where was Cavani's striking prowess?

I'd be wary of Costa Rica; it has players who run at you and will try the audacious.

What?
You didn't read the England Ecuador thread where basically everyone said that Welbeck is worthless and that Lallana is the saviour?

Lallana was wank yesterday and didn't offer anything, still he somehow deserves to start ahead of Rooney or Welbeck.

He didn't start, he played 10 minutes which is virtually no time to make an impression, against a side we had trouble getting at because they're one of the best tactical teams around.

Rooney played a great pass/cross for the goal which was crucial, but his overall game was poor, Wellbeck did well and I'm one of the few posters on here who has always said he's been a good player at International level - I said that before the game yesterday. No one has said Lallana is the saviour, suggesting he should start doesn't equate to our hopes hinging on him, however much you want to exaggerate peoples reasoning to suit your agenda. Maybe people just want to see him play, instead of the same old from players (like Rooney) who continuously underachieve for England. The same could be said of playing Barkley (who would have been my first choice to come on), or Lambert.

I was going to say I can't believe your ready to jump on a 10 minute sub appearance as a means to prove he's not good enough, or whatever agenda setting you're on today, are you really that desperate to see a player fail, to prove a point, that you're resorting to damning him based on a fleeting cameo in a tight game?

Why do we always have to put up with this shit from you? It's pathetic.

He hasn't signed yet Markeh...

So why continue with this crap then? He's a good player but not worth the prices mentioned, 10 minutes as a sub has no bearing on anything, yet you're using it as a means to prove some bitter point. Change the record FFS, if it's English or Norwegian it's an open goal for Modo.

Came on in the 80th minute. With added time that makes it 15 minutes.

A lot can happen in 15 minutes. You have fresher legs than your opponents. I didn't see him create anything and fucking hate the way he runs, like he's out jogging or something. Sterling played the entire game and was still creating chances in the last 10 minutes.
I expect more from a £25 million player, OK that's a bit harsh.

Still, I expected Lallana to come on and do what he does best for Southampton which is, keeping the ball, finding space, creating chances. None of that happened and he did play in his favoured position.

You are talking shit Modo.
He played 12 minutes or something against one of the best defensive teams in the world who had already switched into 'We have what we hold' mode and camped 2 banks on the edge of the area.
So not only did he NOT have time to make an impression, he found space brilliantly in the hole and was twice fouled and earned free kicks on the edge of the box.
Not a massively significant cameo but in 10 minutes about all you could expect.
Wellbeck was very good yesterday (although I wouldnt have played him) but that has nothing to do with Lallana or Wilshere both of whom had little time to impact the game.
I dont usually bother responding to your more tragic efforts but even by your standards this is a glaring and obvious crock of shite.

Lallana good or bad was not to be seen in 10 minutes.
I wonder how many Italians are today saying Insigne or Immobile are 'wank' and not worth their places. Or Spanish fans on Fabregas.
Try harder at not being a bellend Modo.

I thought Johnson had his best game in ages, but yeah, "where was he" is a common question when it comes to failing to cut out crosses or being caught out of position for conceded goals.

I just cant remember if he was marking anyone. He had a good game though.

He did, best in a long time, but he always has at least one momentary lapse and once again a goal has come from his flank via a cross that wasn't cut out.

I thought he was ok, it's just sad the usual lot come out with pops at him, you'll have been forgiven for thinking he was a manc or had done a itjande. The lad is a red, been a real professional for us and we just need to rest the agendas and use every opportunity to have a go at him.

In a weird way I thought Johnson got the ball too often. With zilch happening on the left, Johnson was the basic route forward and there's only so many ways he can advance. Any LFC fan ticked them off: go forward and then cut inside, go forward and cross, play a one-two with Hendo or Sterling, go into the area not quite sure whether to play for a pen or push the ball across the area. Check. After a while you could see the poor bloke thinking, 'Now what?' With pretty predictable movement around him, there wasn't much to do.

Erm...Gerrard...Jagielka...

Blame shift. Was Wellbeck not specifically tasked to help Baines on that side? Maybe Gerrard should be doing more but we all know what he's like with covering ground and needing runners around him.

I'll stop there because I'm taking your low road and being overly harsh on a particular player to prove a point. Stopping, some people know when to.

Costa Rica arent that shite. Worked hard, organized and has a brilliant goalkeeper.
Uruguay were awful though.

England will beat them and then the winner of Costa Rica - England goes through.

In that case what was he doing on the pitch?

Wouldn't Lambert have been a better option?

Also I can only judge a player on what he does on the pitch regardless of how long he played. People here seem to take the high road when discussing Lallana's 15 minute cameo.
I do wonder what people were saying about Aspas cameo against Chelsea?

Aspas' cameo? Seriously? When he literally passed the ball to a Chelsea player from a corner, allowing them to go on the counter? On the back of games earlier in the season where he failed to endear himself to anyone, thanks to displays completely lacking in any heart or desire, with vitually zero workrate? People rate Lallana on what's he's done over the season and what we've seen in other performances, Aspas likewise.

Stupid comparison.

No it's not, you said that I can't judge him based on his time on the pitch right?
Same amount time for Aspas, came on in the 80th minute.

Cahill WAS marking Balotelli .. and completely lost him.

Are you really this dense? "Same amount of time". You really are a sad act.

You can call me whatever you want, I really don't care.
If you're allowed to call Aspas wank after a 15 minute cameo, I'm allowed to call Lallana wank after his 15 minute cameo.
But you know what the best part is, one plays for Liverpool and the other doesn't.

I really can't people defend this shite from you, you're like a 5 year old.

I wouldn't say that was the best thing if it means Aspas plays for us .
