Is he finally showing himself as the £20million player? He often performs well, but goes under the radar, he's one of those players who you don't notice until he's not playing, he plays well and ties the attack together, but he doesn't offer enough end product. Well, the last few weeks that's started to change, he's started scoring and assisting goals and he's generally been superb.

I think this is down to Klopp, I think he has identified the ability in Lallana and is working hard on fine tuning his game and making him more effective, and I think we're starting to see the results of that now. He's never carried much of a goal threat at all whilst at the club until recently, now he's looking dangerous, and looks able to make things happen, he would have scored again last night if it wasn't for De Gea, and of course he set up Firmino, his understanding with the players around him is a joy to watch.

I don't think I'd change the attack much this summer, replace Benteke with another sure, but keep the other personnel as is, we've got a superb mix of pace, skill, guile, strength and persistence in our attack, and Lallana is a massive part of that. When he's on form like his is at the moment, and performing skills like last night, he's an absolute joy, long may it continue.

Yeah, he's looking quite the 25m player for the last few weeks.

Still needs to add long-term consistency and goal threat but the signs are encouraging that Klopp 'gets' him.

He's doing well and hopefully it continues but, where was the £20 million player against Crystal Palace a few days ago?
He needs to keep winning us games, keep getting those assists etc.

Still the odd one out if we get Reus or Götze or whoever.

Nowhere near it. Do what his done for 40 games on the bounce and we can talk. He's still been a massive waste of money weighing all his time here up.

Great game mind

Lallana, Firmino, Benteke, Coutinho and Sturridge have scored a total of 26 Premiership goals between so far this season.

That's nowhere near enough.

Which is fine. Lallana is capable of filling in on the right, left of at no.10. Very useful to have around.

I wouldn't really say Friminiho isn't getting enough goals like.

Good to see Lallana improving fitness wise and getting some success. I still wish he was a bit quicker.

Most definitely.

And there is also the issue of similarity; Lallana, Firmino and Coutinho do seem to work well together, but while I was pleased to see them all in the starting XI last night, there's still a lack of pace from those attacking midfield positions and out wide (Moreno notwithstanding).

We require something different at times, because that trio like intricate passing patterns and cute flicks and tricks, when there is often a need to simply run quicker than the defender and exploit space by way of speed. Our best sides have always had that option in attack

Yeah, fair enough, since 2016 he's been in great scoring form, but I'm not sure he's ever going to be genuinely prolific over an entire season. I hope I'm wrong.

Markovich?

Origi and Ings have useful pace too

I actually think Firmino, well based on his prior stint in Germany, will become another scoring outlet for us like Gerrard was. He's definitely got it in him.

Firmino is getting enough goals as a supporting player, it's only really worth criticising if he's the main attacking outlet. Which he shouldn't be, if Sturridge had been fit and banged 15+ goals, it'd be a moot point. Firmino looks like he can get in excess of 10 a season, which is enough in his ideal role.

This is his first Season..

He will bagging 20 goals a season easily with right players around him.. Firminio is class..

As For Lallana he has been impressive, but we do need better in midfield over all..

Sell Lucas, Bring in a Worldy... Job done.. Id keep Lallana though.. useful player..

Lallana needs to step it up on the goals front, as does Coutinho. But he's playing much better as of late.

In terms of goals, I think his work rate gives him slightly more leeway than our other number 10's. What he needs to step up is his energy and strength on the ball, but that would make him look like Zidane so it's a tough one. What more can you really ask of him?

His energy seems OK to me. But he doesn't score enough goals for a player in that role; he knows it and so does Klopp

I mean being more efficient in his energy. He is very good at expending small amounts of energy consistently throughout the game. But that's a weakness, it's like trying to knock down a wall with a million pin pricks. He needs to rest a bit, then use his energy in short powerful bursts, to mix it up.

That's usually more effective when you're talking about an explosive type of player, with pace and power, who idles....and then is a blur of motion. A bit like Ian Rush as a striker, or a young Barnes out wide.

But Lallana has no pace, and isn't that type of footballer; it's his consistent movement and involvement in the play where he can make a difference, constant probing and use of little pockets of space. He's never going to make a lung-busting burst down the wings, cut inside after running half the length of the pitch, beat two players and then smash in a goal from 25 yards.
