Yes, AGAIN... How time have passed. He's 29 now. :-\

Shaun Wright-Phillips is a £5million January target for Roy Hodgson.

Hodgson is due to meet new Liverpool owner John W Henry before Thursday’s Europa League clash with Napoli to discuss his January shopping list.

Wright-Phillips figures highly on the Liverpool boss’ list of targets and he feels the England winger could add some creativity to the Reds midfield.

Wright-Phillips, 29, would be available for a knockdown fee from Manchester City because he is in the final year of his contract at Eastlands.

Contract talks with City have stalled and Wright-Phillips would be prepared to leave City a second time because he has been dropped to the bench by Roberto Mancini.

Liverpool have been interested in Wright-Phillips before and Rafa Benitez wanted to buy him in 2005.

We do love recycled players don't we? Or that we simply do not have any choice nor money.

The one thing he has is pace. There is nothing else, and he'll quickly lose it.

Spending £5M on this joker would be a mistake.

Roy can take his list of top targets with him when he goes, Wright Philips was a busted flush about 3 years ago, it would be like trying to resign Robbie Keane, hes spent and everybody knows it

No thanks. Like babel, loads of potential, but never really showed it on a regular basis.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I'd rather spent twice as much on a genuine world class player.

There's no point in bulking up the squad when the first team is fooking gash

We're always linked with him when a transfer window is approaching. Won't happen.

He's better than Babel, and I'd take him for 5M. But Dirk's better so meh.

Hmmm the "I dont rate/want VDV" brigade is out again?
This thread is about SWP.

There are no comparisons to be made between the two. VDV is an excellent footballer. SWP is not.

Well based on the opinion on this forum he was clearly NOT an excellent footballer during the tranfer window. He was overated shit who had not performed ever on any level whatsoever.

So what, now SCM can't turn it's nose up at any player? Because it got one wrong?

Either way, I was always vocal about wanting VDV, so that must mean I at least get the right to say that I don't want SWP.

right.... Vdv brought into a swp debate because there was mixed opinions on vdv.

Right

As nice as it would be to see a chalk on the boots style wide player at the club i hope it isn't SWP. He's very inconsistent and his father's a twat.

He won't take us forward so let's stay well clear.
I agree on that. However I fear he is a Woy Hodgson player. Past his best, expensive wages, former international, would be a boost at Fulham player.

I hope its just lazy journalism. Raul Meireles for one wasn't prominently linked with us prior to his transfer.

SWP is over the hill now. At 29 he'll add nothing but experience to the side. His pace will be gone sooner rather than later.

Give Eccleston, Amoo, Silva or Sterling a right go. They have it all including pace and with experience will be infinately better that SWP.

So was Poulsen. Long long time ago.

and yet Roy goes in for these journeymen? That's the ambitions of a mid table manager for a mid table club which of course he is consequently turning us into.

What has SWP produced in the last few years? NOTHING!

29 years old in most cases is not ove rht ehill but it surely applies here.

roy seems intent on raising the average age of the squad to 30 years old.
Well his recent comments regarding experience matters shows you this!!

Shouldn't he sign someone older than 30 then? That would do it more efficiently
