I wouldn't count on it. GlenJo seems more than capable.. If anything he's better at LB than RB as he can cut in and fire a ferocious shot at goal.. And his left footed cross seems better than his right..!
Nottingham Forest have completed the deadline day signing of England left back Paul Konchesky from Liverpool.
The 29 year old has linked up with The Reds on a 93-day emergency loan and is poised to make his debut against Coventry at The Ricoh Arena tomorrow (kick-off 7.45pm).
He has been allocated the No.3 shirt.
"We're obviously delighted to be introducing a player with real quality into the squad.
"I've said all along that it's all about adding quality and to get another defender in is very, very important.
"We've got a real tough run of games coming up in a short space of time, so bringing in another defender, for me, was crucial.
"Paul has got a lovely left foot and great fitness to get forward.
"He's very experienced and he's very level-headed and I've no doubt he will be an excellent addition to help our young players when we face the business end of the season.
"I think he will be a crucial player for us when we go into the big games and have to cope with big moments."
"I'm very excited about joining Forest. It's a new challenge and a big challenge for me as well.
"It's great to be joining a team that's doing well, is in the play-off places and pushing for promotion and hopefully I can be part of that.
"It doesn't bother me that I'm dropping down to the Championship because I just want to play football, that's what I love doing."
Konchesky checked-in at The City Ground this morning and trained with his new team-mates for the first time ahead of the trip to Coventry.
The 29 year old adds: "I heard two or three days ago that a loan move to Forest was in the pipeline but nothing was concrete at that stage.
"And then late last night I was told we could do it and straight away I wanted to do it.
"I wanted to come and play some football and be part of a good club."
The Reds were further hampered by a hamstring injury to left-back Paul Konchesky during the 2-2 draw with bottom-of-the-table North End.
Davies added that he was not yet sure of the extent of the problem but hoped it was "not too serious".
But whatever the diagnosis, Davies said he will not rush into signings and would prefer to give his younger players an opportunity.
Konchesky threatened with an early volley, but Preston served notice of their intentions when Treacy drilled just wide from 25 yards.
The home side should have equalised on the half hour, but Paul Anderson volleyed wide from Konchesky's left-wing cross.
Nine minutes after the break, Konchesky took matters into his own hands by drilling home from 12 yards out.
Loan star Paul Konchesky could miss Nottingham Forest's next three games through injury.
England left back Konchesky, who is on loan from Liverpool, suffered a hamstring injury in the midweek draw with Preston.
He will definitely miss the Millwall game and is unlikely to figure against Middlesbrough on Tuesday and Hull next weekend.
"It looks as though he will be out for 10 days," manager Billy Davies explained. "It's not quite as severe as it could have been but it's certainly another blow."
PAUL KONCHESKY is returning to Fulham at the end of the season – bringing an end to his Liverpool nightmare.
The full-back joined Roy Hodgson at Anfield last year in a bid to take his career to the next level, but it went horribly wrong.
Fans at Anfield never rated him, his performances were poor, and his mum made sure there was no way back when she posted anti-Scouse remarks on Facebook.
He is now on loan at Nottingham Forest but talks have taken place between Fulham and Liverpool and he is set to head back to Craven Cottage in June for around £1.5million.
It’s a great bit of business by Fulham, as they sold him for just over £3m only seven months ago.
The switch is ideal for manager Mark Hughes, who will need a new left back as Carlos Salcido is hoping to return to Mexico after just one season in the Premier League.
Sparky is planning to find a new right back as well when the transfer window reopens as John Pantsil’s contract will not be renewed.
