So why do so many want Kenny to take over? Is it just temporary or do you want it permanently.
I think this move could be bad if it happens.

It's just temporary if he does. My thoughts are, if this happens, it could be positive as new owners may be on the horizon. But hey what do I know.

You don't think its possible new owners are almost in place and that's why Rafa is gone? City and many other clubs have been bought quite quickly without little or no media coverage haven't they?

I don't know anything anymore when it comes to Liverpool. I'm sick of speculation and worrying. It's clear what we, the fans, think doesn't count for shit anyway so whatever will happen will happen

Kenny has the passion and understanding regarding what this club is all about. He also has a name that will be attractive to players.

Why do you think it is a bad move? Besides the "fact" that footie has moved on (Where has it actually moved anyway)...

I want someone who has managed a football team in the last ten years on a two year contract.

Madness.

Make Kenny assistant if we need.

its temporary measure. with a bit of luck the club will be sold sooner rather than later and then liverpool can make the search for a decent manager as all the good managers are currently taken.

Who are the 'good managers that our taken'?

Don't say Mourinho.

We wouldn't have fired Benitez if we could only afford an unemployed manager.

I'd love Kenny to be installed as permanent manager. I often wonder how differently the last nineteen years would have turned out had Liverpool let Ronnie Moran continue in his caretaker role with Kenny climbing back on the saddle that summer.

I'm not so sure, mate, and I don't think he'd take the job on that basis anyway. However, IMO fetching him in as caretaker would be the best appointment by a country mile at the moment. We need to regroup, do a real root-and-branch search and get the right man for the job, NOT just go for the best out of whoever happens to be around and available. The King would be absolutely ideal to see the club through such a period.

Although I know there are logical reasons why Kenny would be bad for the job I would still be happy for him to take it on a temporary basis.

He knows the club, he will know the players, he is highly respected, he won't totally fuck things up and he won't cost a fortune.

In a year's time we hopefully will have new owners and can then start looking at properly rebuilding. As things stand we might just have to make the best of what we have. I'm sure Kenny can do that can't he?

Temporary, is fine.
I worship the ground he walked on as a player, he is a living God, but his managerial career was pretty patchy.
Let me keep him on his pedestal.

regards

Having King Kenny at the reins again would be nostalgic.
Imagine playing Man U...

Ferguson vs Dalglish

To old rivals meet again on the pitch. Dalglish who beat Fergie regularly during the late 80s managing Liverpool and he stole the title from Man U with Blackburn.

Fergie and Dalglish also had a falling out before the 1986 world cup when Alan Hansen was dropped from the Scottish squad.

As a Liverpool legend he can make a massive impact both on and off the field. He has the respect of the Board and will instant command the respect of the current squad and any prospective new players because of what he achieved in the game. A temporary position until the club is sold and leave the permanent appointment to the new owners. If he is doing well enough they make ask him to continue!

Football is still a simple game and being out of the game so long means nothing. Its like riding a bike. The more involved he gets, the quicker up to speed he'll get. It would be an inspired appointment!

According to SKy Sports Kenny will be our temporary manager..

He's locked in talks with Purslow now.

Obviously I hope he's fantastic (and how good would it be to see him shut fergie up?), but I'm worried.

Ha, that's exactly what I thought of (re Fergie), not sure how long he'll be there for though.

Only a fool wouldn't be, Saint - there are no risk-free choices in such a situation. I do think this is clearly the best option for now though.

I know many have doubts about him coming back, but the old romantic in me quite likes the idea of Kenny being our boss again.

It will probably be very short term though.

I for one, think the sale of the club coudl actually follow now that Rafa has gone. Kenny to step in while this is happening, and maybe getting in Wilson and keeping Gerrard and Torres at our club is the ideal solution.

Hold on there, Mr !

Fergie's never managed the Scottish National side.

Hansern - not sure about "very" short-term, given what Hicks was saying recently, but one thing's for sure - we had to resolve the impasse over Rafa's position one way or the other before anything else could happen. Now that we have, things can move forward when they're ready. In answer to Skully's question above, I think Dalglish will continue to play some part in the search for a new permanent manager and his stint will come to an end when we have our man, hopefully not later than summer 2011 and preferably before.

Themn - oh yes he did, ironically enough as a short-term caretaker.

*slopes off*

Just read that Kenny is pushing for the Wilson deal to go through. Seems like he has been pulling the strings on said transfer.
