Does anyone know what is going on with him? Is he still injured (since the promising Lyon game)? It seems like every time someone mentions him it ends with a question if he´s injured or not.

Hopefully we´ll sell Degen for 2m and give Kelly a proper run (if he´s not injured, that is).

I heard he should be back by now, although someone mentioned on here it could be up to another month.

I think Darby and Kelly are good enough understudies not to justify having a injured chancer pick up 50k a week and offering less than fuck all.

kelly played left back last season so he can do it again now. what the fucks wrong with him anyway i wish we'd dish out more injections and make these people play football like we pay them for. if he's hurt he can sort it out over the summer not during the middle of a season.

It's time Kelly becomes our starting RB ... He's the best defender we have for that position, and his attacking play isn't bad at all.

Time to put Johnson on the right wing, or on the bench.

I said this on the match thread. He is no longer a youth player who has taken his chances when given them he is a consistent performer in the first team. I would ensure he has the opportunity to rest when needed though, not having to be a starter has helped him I think

On Berbatov - "it was a bit Gillian McKeith the way he went down"

Well played. Except for being beaten once by Giggs, he had a good game.

What's not to like about Kelly?

Defensively solid, physically solid.

And is not afraid of getting up the pitch.

I've seen so much more in this one game from Kelly than I have from Johnson over many games.

This kid deserves to keep starting.

I'm not from Liverpool... heck I'm from the otherside of the world - and nothing made me more proud today seeing this local lad putting in a mature performance. Keep the faith.

Agreed.
I'd give The Kelly at RB - Johnson at RW a try. I'm sure Kenny will.

great to see 2 (Kelly & Jonjo) or 3 (if u count Ngog) youngster blooded in this game.

Jonjo did look a bit overwhelmed at first and tried to do the complicated stuff. This lad has potential but really needs some playing minutes. I'm sure Kenny will play him more that Hodgson did.

I said in a thread a few months ago that he will play for England someday. There is no reason to change that prediction.

Some woman who false faints on reality shows.

Kelly should start every game. He's not even made a youthful fuck up yet

I haven't seen a better young English defender for fucking ages. Not one fault as far as I can see, he should and could be the right back for both club and country if he keeps up his current form.

About time he gets a decent run in the team, doesn't he? With his display, with Carra out, with Johnson not at his best. If not now, then when will he ever get the chance? Hope Kenny will give him his due.

is kelly a better fullback or center back?
[/quote]

Centre back (note the spelling of CENTRE).

He's quality, but its not unusual to bed a CB in at FB, it gives them more understanding, helps their positional sense & as young defenders are more probe to make mistakes means you're not punished by losing a goal as often when they do so. I remember Wes Brown at Utd making fucking shockers every week for at least half a season, but they had enough quality alongside & around him to cope. Its a huge risk for us to bring him in at CB, ESP when he's playing so well at RB & Johnson isn't.

if he is better in the CENTRE then fuck off skrtel and play kelly with agger.

He's a centre back, but at present he's a better right back option for the first team than centre back. He needs time and confidence.

He played at RB quite often in the reserves as well, so it's not out of the ordinary for him to be playing there in the first team.

In fact, it was when first watching him play at RB a few years ago that I realized how good a prospect he was.

Come on, Neil. I have to put up with silly American spelling and pronunciation all day, every day.

Sort it out, man!

I hope Kelly grabs his chance to establish himself as a first team regular. All the stars are aligned for him to do so, Dalglish's appointment, Glenjo's lack of form, Carra and Ayala being injured, Agger and Aurelio's frequent injuries, Skrtel's inconsistency and Konchesky's shitness.

He can play anyway across the back four, and regardless of where he plays, he can do well.

Good luck Martin!

Is it pronunciation?

I always thought it was 2 separate words, like 'caliber' and 'calibre'

Is there anyone here who would like to see Kelly at LB for us?

He has played there for a full season - when on loan, has he not?

Considering how shite we are at LB, may be that's something that needs to be given a thought.
