I was really impressed with him yesterday. I think he might actually take the step up and be a first teamer.

Decent pace, comfortable on the ball, tough tackling and the right size for a centre backs. Learning his trade with Carra will do wonders for his development.

He aslo turned his back on the England U-19 squad, and decided not to play in the Euro Championship.
If it's because he wants to succeed here and has decided that pre season is his chance, then I like this kid even more.

I'm a fan and have always spoke highly of him.

I'd have preferred there to be a slot open at RB where he could begin to learn his trade in the first team, but that doesn't look likely in the short term.

The only worry is his back. I'm not sure if he suffered the same complications from a sudden growth spurt that Gerrard did, or whether it was something more enduringly problematic, but he missed more than a season a couple of years ago because of it. Hopefully he's okay now. I know the great Terry McDermott was raving about him when he went out on loan, so that's a promising sign.
