Henry spent a fortune getting Adrian Gonzalez for the Red Sox, then when people thought he was done, he got Carl Crawford a week or so later for another fortune.
Yeah they were well established to be fair.
If a kid is worth that money then he has to have the potential to be one of the best players in the world.

True, but i think we're still taken aback by these figures that are being thrown around.
Not complaining(well apart from Downing maybe) because for too long LFC has been a Club that has been too tame in the Transfer Market whilst we've watched our rivals spend bucket-loads.
I suppose it's about getting the balance right. Not an easy task in football nowadays.

Was well impressed with him since January, not sure whether he's top drawer though or just one of those players who are a flash in the pan, I definitely wouldn't like to see him given a chance to prove it at the blueshite though.

True, but in the late 70's when we were the dominant force in English football we regularly had 3 or 4 regular starters in the England team and once we had 5.........England were still shite. It's nearly always the England manager that makes England shite.
I like Henderson a lot and see a lot of similarities with a very young Beckham - £18m is over the top but so was £35m for Carroll but I do like this new transfer agenda we seem to have.
We're are looking to spend big on (very) young talent who will also accept lower wages i.e. Henderson (20 years old) for £18m on £65,000 per week IMO is preferable to £50m for Torres (27 years old) £150,000* per week. Even if Henderson doesn't work out as well as we expect he'll still have a decent resale value and if he bceomes a huge player he will win trophies for us and become a saleable asset (if he wants to leave) for maybe £50m.

£18M seems seriously steep for a player a lot of posters on here who's following the Prem doesn't even seem to know that well?
I'd understand it better if he's been setting the world alight already but that's not the case either I take it?
