I still don't get this stand.

It's not your money, true..but when you over-spend on a player by say 8 million pounds thats 8 million pounds which could have gone to another good player or stadium design plans. I can't get why we wouldnt care about something like that.

To my mind the idea that spending is irrelevant to us will happen the day we go the Citeh way.
 
I'm not saying I don't pay any interest to what we spend, I do. I'm saying that I have no context on which to judge how significant any fee paid is. Also, I have no say whatsoever in any of it, and unlike watching the spectacle of football and trying to understand the tactics that are laid out in front of me, there's no joy or point in trying to unravel it.
 
I think the lads quite talented - two footed and a good brain but £18m ? He ain't worth that and he still has a lot to prove...

Yup what Krump said. I'm sure that the club's finance guys would have stated exactly how much we can spend on players. It's then up to Kenny and Comolli to prioritise and decide what's the limit they want to spend on a particular player. Another reason why I'm not as fussed is that I'm certain FSG is unlike the previous jokers who told Rafa how much he had to spend without telling him the caveats.

heck. I'm not sure how i feel.... we seem to like spending over the odds on young players who have had 1 good season.
 
If we spend 40 odd million on kids we need our heads testing we have bigger squad worries than adding young English talent. We need a couple of actual £20 million pound players, not kids who've played well for a season and command your typical minimum of £15 million.

So this Andy Carroll x2, he has played very well in his debut season and could become amazing has all the raw talent and attributes needed to be world class so we over pay for him confident in our ability to make him that world class player.

A few of these players with a few players who can walk in and improve the team considerably NOW and I would be well happy.

5 year contract appaz, 70k a week. talk of 18 mill might be a bit premature though, there's a few figures flying about, 18 with add ons is highest, 10 with add ons the lowest
