News:
As ususal there are lots of transfer rumours in Sunday's papers. The People claims Manchester United are ready to offer Sunderland boss Steve Bruce a cash-plus-players package to rival Liverpool for talented youngster Jordan Henderson.

He looks a footballer to me.

Much more so than Leeeffincatteremole.

Like the fact he's versatile and looks quick in both actions and mind. (I'm basing a lot on that clip, Cheers Mark).

The first time I saw Jordan Henderson play a full match was on his England debut against France. England were outplayed, and Henderson looked insipid - and was totally overshadowed by the performance of Yann M'Vila, who is more or less the same age and looks a much more dominant and assured player to me.

Still, it's true I am basing this on only a few matches. And M'Vila is more of a DM, whereas Henderson looks predominantly an AM.

All the same, I wouldn't be devastated if we missed out on this signing.

Some guy on twitter says LFC should have deals for Downing and/or Henderson wrapped up in the next few days.

And Adam. While talks with Mata have been very positive. He wants LFC and we want him.
Twitter is full of shite, but as we're suckers for good news we'll belive it..

I like Henderson. A lot more so than Downing and Young.

He looks a real good prospect. A bit like Gerrard when he first broke through. You can see the athleticism and potential is there. Whether he gets up to the level of a Steven Gerrard is another question though. Certainly won't do it if he stays at Sunderland. Under Kenny and with Liverpool, perhaps.

Sounds promising mate, what's been said today about Adam in terms of a move to LFC?

So many rumours and stories. Impossible to know if half of them are genuine, although i don't think it's any secret we're interested in Mata, Adam, Henderson and co.

Just that a deal is in place, and apperantly Adam has hinted strongely on twitter were he'll play next season.

Henderson will probably be used as a winger imho.

I've never seen him play really, but he does look very impressive in the couple of clips I've seen of him. Good movement, and very importantly, looks pretty good technically. Having said that, he appears to be an AM, and IMO in Gerrard and Meireles, we're well covered in that department. The positions we should really be looking to upgrade are the deeper CM roles being occupied by Lucas and Spearing. There's an argument for playing Gerrard there, and there's a growing number of people who believe Gerrard is going to end up playing a deeper role once his athleticism and power begin to fade away, but I'm not convinced, that time has arrived yet. Gerrard has enough in his tank to offer a consistent threat as an AM, and that's really where we should be looking to play him - at the head of a three man midfield.

I'd really be happier if we were pursuing someone like M'vila or maybe even Scott Parker. I wouldn't be very pleased going into the 2011-12 with Lucas and Spearing as our first choice CMs, however much they have improved over the course of last season.

I was reasonably impressed with Henderson when he played for England v Norway today.
Some of his passing was Alonso like.

If we're playing in a 4 then i think you're right, however in a 4-3-3 then i'd imagine Henderson will play as one of the 3 in midfield.

What are we supposed to do with Shelvey and Spearing now - send them out on loan for a season? Or maybe just one of them.

'Alonso like passing' and 'alonsoesq' I die a little everytime someone says that or similar

Isnt there a rumour about Shelvey going out on loan to Bolton?
Getting first team football is the most important thing for him.

The u21s were playing at St Marys today, just down the road from me.

I didn't go but asked a mate for his thoughts on Hendersen. He said he was the "creative fulcrum"

Also said Jones is a "no nonsense centre back in the Vidic mould"

Said he'd have both at Utd

Reports in the North East claim Sunderland have made an enquiry to Birmingham about the availability of midfielder Craig Gardner.

We cant seriously be willing to pay £15m plus 70k a week in wages for this manchild can we?

I cant believe the figures being bandied about 15m for jones, 20m for cahill, 20m for contreao, 12m for adam.

Fucking crazy shit man.

Im not sure im going to enjoy this summer very much.

Seems Henderson is turning down the filth's last minute attempts to sign him.

Not a bad way to endear yourself to the Kop 😀

Manchester United’s last-ditch hopes of signing Jordan Henderson look to have faltered with the Sunderland midfielder intent on joining Liverpool.
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is eager to bring in United’s Darron Gibson, Danny Welbeck and Wes Brown but will now have to offer cash.
England Under 21 star Henderson wants his Liverpool move wrapped up by Wednesday and hopes to be joined by Ipswich’s Connor Wickham once Liverpool increase their offer to £10m.
