What's happened to him in the last 12 months? He was one of the real shining lights during City's title run, but since then? Mistake after mistake - Is he living on borrowed time as City (& England) #1?

Very strange, isn't it? He seemed a mature, sensible, good pro, and a very talented keeper. He's always had lapses in concentration but they seem to be getting more, rather than less, common.

The comments from Platt also suprised me. A deal was in place to sign Begovic if Mancini stayed.

Joe Hart is an amazing shot stopper but he is a bit erratic at times. Perhaps just a blip in form for him. He was outstanding there 12 months ago.

Shot stopper he's top notch - that save he had on Campbell early on was him at his best. However, as Macca notes - he seems to be very prone to flapping and/or lapses in concentration ... Is he just not motivated? Do they need a Diego Lopez/Casillas like situation to get him back on track?

He has always been pretty poor with crosses into the box.

Also suffers from not having a decent back up who can challenge him for his place.

Hart had no business coming out during the match at Chelsea yesterday. His defender was well ahead of the attacker with just a simple header to make. Poor decision making.

That first one with kolo was just bizarre. And the last one too. I mean his judgement is awful. It's like he's doing it deliberately. No keeper is that bad suddenly, surely..Pelegrini has to drop him

That first one is mental, the last video isn't working but I imagine it's his most recent and very similar mistake.

I find it amazing how a keepers decision making can go haywire. If Joe Hart watched those goals back or relived them he'd probably know/make the right decision but in the heat of the moment he blows a sensible fuse and charges out.

I suspect it's mainly down to how they deal with not having anything to do for long periods. Loads of keepers are good when they've got shots flying in at them all the time, but the really good ones can stand there for ages watching the action up the other end and then snap into action. Hart seems at his worst when there's a counter-attack and he's taken unawares. His concentration just drifts away in isolation, like it used to do with David James. I'm not sure if coaches can cure that. It's too bound up in the personality.

They should fit him with an electric shock collar and hit the button every so often to wake him up.

Hart is obviously suffering from a crisis of confidence at the moment. I'm not sure I buy the concentration argument. His concentration was fine before - enough to elevate him to England's undisputed no. 1, and to have him included in conversations about the finest goalkeepers in world football. He's obviously fallen from grace somewhat, but it's quite possible he's suffering from having reached a level a little beyond his years, without the experience and maturity required to deal with a loss of form and the weight of expectation from both club and country. I think he'll bounce back, but he might have to weather the storm for a while yet.

He's always had these lapses in concentration though, along with weird decision making. It just didn't used to cost him so much. And it was excused more because of his age. But he's been poor now for well over a year.

It's hard to say if it's confidence or concentration, I remember Boruc when his confidence was destroyed and he could barely kick a ball, he was a wreck. I think Hart is a fairly confident lad and he still looks like he's holding it together barring the occasional lapse. I would agree with @gkmacca that he's always had a mistake in him and obviously his confidence has taken a knock so he's probably thinking about things too much and forcing out the wrong decision. It has to be a combination of both.

I'd say David Platt coming out and saying they would've signed a replacement had Mancini stayed didn't help.

I think it's lapses in concentration rather than cockiness. That makes an average keeper, in my opinion.

Joe Hart is complacent much in the same way Pepe reina was with no real no.2 challenging them
