Raheem Sterling joined us a 15 year old I believe and doesn't play in central midfield, whilst Shelvey is an 18 year old coming up from League One and another central midfielder whose strengths lie in attacking.

Our midfield has been one of our main problems this year, so to take out it's best player and one of our few shining lights this season and replace him with... no-one... is not "taking a chance", it's suicide.

if there is a sale I think that sale would have been prompted by stuff off the pitch rather than stuff on the pitch.
you were talking about tactics and strengthening v weakening the squad, I was saying this is immaterial because servicing the loans will take priority

Ha ha !

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

you can laugh all you like but anyone who thinks the loan isn't going to come into the equation with regards to sales and purchases is seriously deluded.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

Hahahaaa I remember when I said that no player is irreplaceable and Mascherano can fuck off if he doesn't want to wear ourt shirt how much flak I got. It would be a blow if we lose him because he is one of our better players. The ownshership and Rafa saga is taking its toll. We stand to possibly lose Gerrard, Torres and Mascherano. Things just keep getting worse.

This is me getting sucked in I guess, but spidey, that's a separate argument.

If you want to introduce that to the thread then by all means do so and make it clear how it fits into the context of what's being discussed.

What you did instead is made some random comment, which without further clarification meant nothing. And not only that, there is still no obvious link into a discussion about Masher being dispensable. We may or may not have to sell players to service loans at some point, but that's very different from arguing the case from a purely footballing point of view, which is what DCH was doing.

I admit my original comment to your post was out of left field but currently I can't see past the loan. last season saw the board without some money from the keane sale so I'm not sure they wont do the same again.

if we are just talking tactics thought (putting aside loan talk) then I think mash will be INFINATELY easier to replace than alonso, we're talking about a holding midfielder who gives next to nothing in a creative sense. if we replaced mash with a 'competant' holding midfielder and a wide player worth a shit with the money left over we would have improved the team.

Well, we've been hearing rumblings of this for a long time, and if it's not a good match for his family, what can be done. You'd hope that Liverpool as a club would be better at settling families here.

Anyway, all he does is tackle.
What can we do though Farky? Ultimately how well a player settles depends mostly on the player and their family. Short of shipping his whole family and mates over here, and changing the climate to that of Argentina, I don't see what we can do.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

Veron had a spat with Utd when he first went there cos he wanted Argentinian tv in his house live.

He was informed it wasnt possible due to the satellite position & the equator, he told the club if they wanted him that much they'd get the equator changed. Clearly not blessed with brains.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

Yeah, let's get rid.

I'm sure that scoper Lucas and the equally disabled shithouse Aquilani can do a job in CM next season

You're in a bad mood cos you're being dragged round the shops aren't you?

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

I'm sorry, but I must do a Ryan here...

Anyone who doesn't think losing Mascher would weaken us because we still have Lucas doesn't know anything about anything. At all. Ever.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

Difference between you 'doing a Ryan' is that you're right, and he never is

And what fucking divvy doesn't think losing him wouldn't weaken us anyway?
In our current state of affairs if you replace Mascher with lucas and vice-versa the statement will still be valid unfortunately...

The thing is, losing which one of the 2 will allow us to improve our overall play?

Also considering that unhappy players don't play to the best of their abilities and the funds that can be obtained with the sale.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

I may have missed the point, but are you saying it makes no difference if we have Masher or Lucas?

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

i'm saying that the funds obtained for mascher will be significantly more than that for lucas which will allow for greater improvement in our squad than keeping mascher and selling lucas. Plus Mascher seems to be unsatisfied to don the red shirt.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

You sound like a fucking retard to be honest. Mascherano is the best at what he does. Toure or Busquets would soften the blow, but will they come here? Why do people think its as easy as that? Yeah we'll have him and 20million? I'm sure City and Spurs would be after them amongst other clubs. Why would they come to a club on the verge of losing its best players, uncertainty over ownership and management? This is going to be a long painful summer.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

Buy a cheap defensive mid and use any money left over for attacking talent. Id go for someone like Mavuba maybe

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

Yeah, cos none of the top clubs in europe have a world class defensive midfielder. It's not like it's an important position or anything.

Great plan. In fact I think we should go one better and replace all our players with cheap replacements, that way we can pay of our debt and win the league. Whitey for manager.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

Aye im a Masher fan myself but its easier to find good defensive midfielders than it is to replace attacking players as we may find if Torres or Gerrard fuck off. Waaaaahh

Same logic!

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

Yep exactly the same. Not. Lucas has established himself to be a permanent fixture in our side this season and last season while ngog has played a bit part role in torres' absence.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

Is Flamini still not getting games at AC Milan?

If not, lets snap him up, he's a decent footballer and a decent defensive midfielder.
