Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

Ah bollocks. I LOVE Mascher - He's on of the few who actually plays like they care, every week...

Also, isn't the wife letting him down here... I mean, if they've decided to move here, and he likes it like he says he does, doesn't she have an obligation to do her best to make it work, to keep him happy*? I mean, she could try to learn English, and get out an meet people, no..?

No wonder he's miserable.

*just as he would if they decided to move to somewhere he wasn't too fond off, for her career - It's a partnership thing, not a subservient wife thing.

I think when the man is bringing home £70k a week or whatever, so his family can live a life of blessed luxury, the very least she could do is learn the language. How long has he been in England now? 3 years? It's a joke.

Oh and we should hide this thread from Jules.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

Fine, go to barca. If we get yaya or busquets and cash then happy days

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

He has 24 months left on his contract. But I have to say, his wife doesn't speak English, WHY NOT LEARN IT THEN? YOU LIVE IN ENGLAND! You've been here for 3-4 years now.

As for the moaning, well if he doesn't want to stay then leave. Great little player, but we want players that actually wants to stay and get our beloved club back up at the top were it belongs.

truely fucking gutted..

i love Mascherano.

His wife has lived in Uk for how many years now? and cannot speak English???? she doesnt have any friends??.. the only friends she has are argie?

Sounds like a bit of xenophobic lazy tit.
Mrs Mascherano... its okay to speak to Spanish people too...

My thoughts verbatim.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

If you're not happy where you are, it can be hard for certain people to make the effort. Masher sounds as though he's tried a little bit or is at least willing to try, but his wife isn't. That's him (and us) fucked. It's been coming anyways.

I blame Morse. This will be the second year running that our player of the season leaves.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

id argue that he is easily the best defensive midfielder in the world and the fee should match this..

however if he has requested to leave.. We are pretty much fucked.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

If Mascher leaves, how say we use that money to buy a top quality winger and play lucas and gerrard in centre mid, Aqua further forward?

This doesn't make us weaker does it?

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

20 million + Busquets

Then we get a fantastic passing DM, plus some money to pay off our debt!

I don't think a midfield of Lucas and Gerrard is going to cut it sadly. Man Utd seem to be able to get away without a world class central midfield because of the overall quality of their play - we won't get away with it. If Masher goes, we'll need to replace him and with someone good.

There was a school of thought that Mascherano was not contributing to the 'passing' game as with Momo. Perhaps when we replaced Momo with Mascherano we were not improving on that aspect of our game.

Last season the Alonso + Lucas midfield pairing we looked good, came in 2nd. Perhaps reinforcements up front while pushing Gerrard further back is what we need.

Masher's lack of ability on the ball is overstated and certainly this season we've seen a big improvement in that area anyways. He's certainly not dispensable as some claim.

As for an "Alonso + Lucas" midfield, I'm not quite following. Are you trying to suggest that was the partnership that propelled us 2nd last year?

We may be able to re-jig the dynamic of the midfield, as you say, but we're still going to need to replace Masher if he goes. We can't be left with one semi-defensive midfielder in Lucas and that's it.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

What i'm saying is that we have enough depth and quality in for our first team midfield to cover the lost of the masch if either gerrard or aqua moves in to fill the gap.

If Mascher departs and the money is spent wisely, our overall passing and attacking play can improve without getting a direct replacement for Mascherano.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

It's obviously gutting that he wants out, but this is one transfer that i think most of us were expecting.

Hopefully we'll get good money for him and it's all reinvested.

Ah, well I disagree.

We have an increasingly injury prone Gerrard, Aquilani who has averaged less than 15 games a season in his career and hasn't looked comfortable deeper in midfield as yet and then Lucas.

It was said in the summer that Aquilani would give us that extra bit of attacking edge in midfield by replacing Alonso and look what happened.

If we could somehow bring it all together like Utd have done, it'd be great. But we so obviously won't.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

Toure + money would be a good deal. Yaya is a certain to leave Barca this summer.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

So Rafa's presence can't even prevent the loss of his one real supporter among the players? Please Rafa, just fucking leave! That little article about him having fallen out with Yossi just gave me the chills. The dressing room must have been poisonous this season.

As for Mascher's complaints... I think he's laying it on thick to make the decision seem personal when in all probability it's based on our sad-fuck future as a football club. Like most top players he wants to play in the CL and win trophies. If we were bought by a bulti-billionaire in two weeks' time, you might well find Mascher's wife suddenly became a bit happier.

Well we did sign jonjo and raheem as cover (Not sure the position Raheem plays). With the limted resources we have we have to take our chances and improve on the areas that we need and if next season;s injuries ain't as bad as this i think we can do better with a quality winger than a replacement for mascher.

So you are saying in your first para it's rafa's fault that mascher wants to leave and you go on the second para that Mascher would stay if new owners with wads of cash came strolling in.

unless you are saying that Yossi is the one real supporter amongst the players it doesn't make sense...

I think that would fit in nicely with Benitez transfer policy for the last couple of seasons, one step sideways instead of forwards. Strengthening one area and then getting a giant black hole in another.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

I think the sales of torres, gerrard and mash will depend on failing to secure new owners. no CL would mean we would struggle to meet loan repayments, only big sales would cover the cost.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

Raheem Sterling joined us a 15 year old I believe and doesn't play in central midfield, whilst Shelvey is an 18 year old coming up from League One and another central midfielder whose strengths lie in attacking.

Our midfield has been one of our main problems this year, so to take out it's best player and one of our few shining lights this season and replace him with... no-one... is not "taking a chance", it's suicide.

if there is a sale I think that sale would have been prompted by stuff off the pitch rather than stuff on the pitch.

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

what's the point of signing players in centre mid and not playing them? I guess Shelvey will be used some way or another next season.

Agree that our midfield was terrible and putting Gerrard/Aqua right back in it will probably straighten it out.

We need to sort out some quality wide players next season than introduce another anchor midfield which will see us back in square one as identified by yourself as an issue.

I agree... We can manage without him, especially if we can strengthen our wingers...

Re: HOME ALONE MASCHERANO READY TO QUIT

I have a real feeling that Gerrard will leave this summer.

So that would mean a central midfield of Lucas and Aquilani.

If Masch leaves too...

We have shown that we can win and play well with out SG so if he goes i hope we get at least 40 mil for him...
