If there's any Justice in the World? Lemar to be our Man?

Whats strange about this market is that no one has actually gone to leagues outside of Europe to get a player. All business is being done with other European clubs...why dont we take a risk and look at some players directly from other continents or is Klopp against that ?

What continents would you suggest, moron?

Jupiter and Mars havent been effected by the inflated fees yet. Who would want a goalkeeper with 4 arms?!

I read a piece about Lemar, which talks about one of his better attributes being crossing/set pieces and how his style of play might not be suited in a 4-3-3 without a proper number 9 (Firmino) in the box.

It does talk about his speed on the counter, and his ability to combine and up the tempo of an attack (transition) being part of his repetoire (and the YT videos somewhat confirm this).

He seems to be a pretty well rounded player without being exceptional in any particular area.

If we get him, I think it will be a smart signing. Mane/Salah can't play 3 games a week. You can imagine it'll be a 3 way rotation:

Mane/Salah => Mane/Lemar => Lemar/Salah => Mane/Salah => Repeat.

.. where they play 2 games in a row and are used off the bench for the 3rd game.

He's less pacy than Salah, not as explosive as Mane, but has more control about his game and is definitely a better passer than both.

Exciting times if this deal does get done!

Liverpool up their bid for Lemar?

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool have chucked in a revised bid for Thomas Lemar. The new offer is €80m - €50m down, €30m next summer - plus a borrow of Divock Origi for a season. No word on whether it will prove acceptable to the Monaco brass yet, though. Now, we wait.

I'd rather avoid another Mark Gonzalez/Palletta/Lucas (as good as he was) situation.

If we, as a club, have got the money. We, as fans, shouldn't be concerned about an over inflated market, so long as we get the players we need.

I don't think United fans, give two shits about the Pogba fee, or Ibra's ridiculous wages, despite the numerous LOLs from other fans last year. It's only when those players don't perform, do the fees come under a microscope.

Just watched his highlight video. Bang average. Not into spending seventy million on Jordon Ibe. Fuck this campsite, I'm going home.

I never really LOL'ed about Pogba's fee too much, because he is obviously a very good player. Never seen Lemar play more than maybe twice, so I can't really comment too much, but there's little point in talking about sensible fees - or otherwise - at the moment.

Danny Drinkwater is being priced at over £30m. And Barcelona have just made Ousmane Dembele the second most expensive player of all time, after one season in Germany in which he scored 6 goals, which is one less than Salomon Kalou managed.

LOL.

But yeah, with Andros Townsend being touted around the 30m, it makes you wonder. If only we'd have just done our business the right way with VVD, and done it early, we could have got him for a reasonable price around the 60m mark (which would be a good deal in the current market).

But now, it's looking we'd need to pay over 70m for him.

To be fair, most said the same about Salah (me included) and a lot had reservations over Mane ("we were settling for the 2nd choice option to Goetze"; which might have been true). And whilst I truly believe the jury is still out on the Salah's overall talent (he's missed about 3 sitters) and his ability to go up another level, there's no doubting his output so far.

Klopp, hasn't really had a big money flop, yet. So i'm confident, if we are in for Lemar, he's likely to be a success.

On Mane, I was dying for us to buy him, he was fucking mustard the season before he came to us. On Salah, I couldn't recall his Chelsea days but his highlight youtube was full of ace play and goals for Roma. On this fucker, they're padding it out with slow mo of him getting fouled and trying to meg someone on the halfway line. Nah

Seriously... it looks like people are coming to a decision that this guy aint worth what Monaco are demanding. We should just get VVD and leave it at that...sell the wantaway little shit and then in Jan go scout the world and get the best players from South America, and Africa. Cut out the overpriced European slave trader.

That's where most of the good teams and players are

Yeah but there must be some fucking scout who is populating Europe with these players from outside. We need to tap into that supply chain and then maybe pay 10M for a Bobby than paying 30M from a European club.

Looks good in this one. He's boss mate. Would be insane if we manage to get him.
Doubt even Ibe on the same steroids as A-Rod was shooting up would get to the same level. 😉

By the way, I haven't got a fucking clue about him. I could barely be arsed watching the CL last year and the French league isn't proper footy is it?

I will bow to the analysis that Klopp hasn't gambled and failed at this stage. His two biggest outlays here have had similar roles, Mane and Salah, and they're both ace... so I take it all back. He's probably wicked.

Monaco have completed the signing of Jovetic, who's surely Mbappe's replacement, and they're about to sign that Balde guy, surely they must be losing another?

[article]Premier League side Liverpool are currently waiting on a response from AS Monaco after submitting what is believed to be a 3rd bid for French international attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar.

L’Équipe report that Liverpool’s new offer includes €80m, with €50m payable immediately and the other €30m payable next summer, plus the loan of Belgian international Divock Origi.

At first glance, there are multiple potential problems with that deal from a Monaco standpoint. They are exploring and are in talks for frankly better targets than Divock Origi and are very unlikely to want him. Most of all, they continue to categorically deny any desire to sell Lemar.

GFFN reported yesterday morning that Monaco would only be willing to negotiate a deal around the €100m mark, if at all.

At the Principality side, every player has a price. Liverpool wait for an answer on their latest bid, but it is unlikely to be adequate.[/article]

Haha, and an Origi loan. Very generous of us.

So a few questions to those who have seen enough of him to judge:

He looks very one footed. Problem?

How does he stack up against others who have gotten more press / hype and were picked first? I.e. Mbappe, Dembele, Silva... why has Lemar been left till last?

Either way, defo not a like for like Coutinho replacement.

I know, it's so strange.

Almost as if there's a history of players from those places struggling to get work permits or something.

Ha Ha @FoxForceFive - I am aware of the work permit issues - but I don't get how we managed to keep hold of Lucas for fucking 10 years !!! - he never had a problem did he ? - then given we are part of the EU still - how does the rest of Europe manage it and we cannot ? does not make sense to me.
