So he was entitled to what he got?
He guarnteed that top 4 spot which is very lucrative moneywise. Much the same as Hicks and Gillett guaranteed that we would start building the stadium which would be very important moneywise....

I don't think it's your fault it's a woeful thread. Nevertheless, it is a woeful thread.

I'll be supporting Inter in the Italian league next season.
I can fully understand that. They have allways given so much to football.

To be honest Inter is a disgusting club, with such a cynical defensive mentality that I can puke when I hear the name.... They also pretended that the bribing match fixing ongoing in Italy was none of their concern, and it had never happend to them? Fucking bulshit...

I only support Liverppol, but I will be keeping an eye out on them and their results....

I personally think Rafa will have them winning more trophies then the EGO did in the same amount of time...

Hmm... sounds to me like he is not trying to fleece the club...

Liverpool could break even on Rafa sacking following Inter move

Published 22:30 08/06/10 By David Maddock

Liverpool will be handed a much-needed financial bonus from Inter Milan's decision to make Rafa Benitez their next manager.

The English club had agreed a £6million-plus compensation package with the Spaniard when he was sacked last week.

But the initial up-front payment was less than £3million, and now, with the 52 year old walking straight into a new job, no further payments will be made under the terms of the severance deal.

In fact, Liverpool may not be out of pocket at all, after their decision to part with their manager, following the disastrous campaign which culminated in a disappointing seventh-placed finish.

They will be due compensations themselves from the Italian club, when, as expected, Benitez takes his backroom staff with him to the San Siro stadium.

Inter were due to unveil Benitez as the replacement for treble-winning manager Jose Mourinho last night, but in keeping with the intrigue surrounding the former Reds boss, the announcement was delayed and is now expected this morning.

Inter president Massimo Moratti confirmed yesterday that the appointment of the Spaniard was imminent, but then with the media waiting, technical director Marco Branca revealed there had been a delay.

"We must fix some details, so nothing will be official until late into the night or tomorrow morning," Branca said in an official club statement.

It was thought that Benitez had become embroiled in details of his control of all playing matters at the club, despite the presence of Branca as, effectively, a director of football.

The former Madrid-born manager also wants to take his backroom staff with him from Anfield, which means Liverpool will be entitled to some compensation.

Benitez has negotiated positions in Milan for his coach Mauricio Pellegrino, fitness guru Paco de Miguel and keeper coach Xavi Valero, and he wants to bring other Anfield colleagues in when the opportunity arises.

Benitez had given Pellegrino a £2.5million contract only last summer, and Liverpool will receive an unexpected windfall when he and his colleagues join Inter.

The sacked Reds manager has decided to forgo a large part of his own compensation from Liverpool - which will only be paid if he remains unemployed - by agreeing to join the Italian side so swiftly.

He was locked in negotiations with Moratti yesterday over the terms of his contract, and he will be given a two-year deal worth around £3million a year.

Benitez will win more trophies than Mourinho at Inter?

Ahahahahahaha

Fucking hilarious

Not even O'Tomkins would go along with that

Taking Pellegrino with him is a blessing in disguise. The news that Macia has left aswell is excellent to say the least.

Yep, Pellegrino fucking off with that useless cunt Macia is ace news

Now all we need is the Polio Triplets to disappear and we'll be laughing*

*At least until we get a shit manager and no new owners and Torres and Masher leave

That was more than a little strange.

Inter Milan are interested in signing Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson, according to Calciomercato.

New Inter coach Rafael Benitez is already looking for ways to strengthen his recently-inherited side and he has been linked with a move for several of his former Liverpool players.

Johnson, signed from Portsmouth last summer, was a regular first-team member at Anfield under Benitez, making 35 appearances in his first season with the Reds.

The England international's arrival at the Giuseppe Meazza would prepare the way for the departure of Maicon, who has been strongly linked to Real Madrid.

Reports in Italy indicate that Johnson would cost Inter a fee of €15 million, a figure which would not pose a problem for the treble-winning side as they hope to sell Maicon for almost twice as much.

What do you base that belief on? Its barely even possible is it?

If Rafa loves and respect this club as much as he goes on about he should not try to get our players. That would make him hated around here.

Well that does depend on the players. If he makes Lucas his number one target I don't think it would make him THAT unpopular you know.....

It's bollocks surely, Inter will be linked with half of our players now that Benitez has taken over.

Valid point 🙂

When Rafa took over, we were linked with the likes of Baraja, Vicente and Aimar. We instead got Pellegrino and latterly Aurelio.

I hope Inter fans see a repeat of this pattern.

Pellegrino would be seen as young and talented among their defenders.

They may get a Torres though.

They won't be linked with Gerrard or Torres. With a straight face.

Johnson was an obvious one, and Reina will be too.

And hopefully Lucas.

They have Julio Cesar. I don't think Pepe will be mentioned by journos who have a brain.

Maschernao, definitely.

Masherano appears so keen to leave that he will start those rumours himself! I doubt he will end up going there though.
