I really don't see the point of threads like this. As the Torres saga has highlighted, selling a player is only a positive move if you replace him successfully, regardless of how much cash you get for them.

That said, 10M for Dirk as this stage in his career would be an offer we should refuse.

I seconded the opinion of keeping him as an influential veteran presence. Maybe I'm being too soft but what will ppl or players make of us if the approach for our players in their thirties is "sell as long as good offer comes in"? Like I said, I might be too soft but I think its a bit of burning bridges. :-[ I'm all for making good business decisions (but are we sure we want to look at this as a reason? Henderson, Carroll ahemm) and profits for good purpose but the approach surely has to differ according to personnel and for Kuyt, I'd say its a no.

Besides, his contract expires at the end of next season - i.e. can't see such a big offer coming in and since its baring 1.5 yrs left, I'd prefer a nicer send off.
 
I really don't see how anyone would fork out 10 mil for Kuyt at this stage of his career.

He will leave for about half that, and it will be fair business.

You're damn right I'd take it, and if anyone of a rational mind give it more than a moment's thought then they should too.

He'll be on top wages now after renegotiating his contract twice over the years. He seems to be in a bit more than a dry spell in front of goal now. His legs are due to go, and he's never been the fastest anyway. We need long term cover for the right, and we've also probably had the best of him. Anything like £10M in the summer and we'd be fools not to take it.
 
I would take the cash. Kuyt is coming to the end of his career now and isn't as effecdtive as he use to be.
 
Indeed. Maybe I'm overly romantic/nostalgic but he should finish his career here.

Considering I think almost every footballer is a cunt, Dirk is a huge exception, and it should finish on his terms.
