Ibrahimovic - Where To ?

Don't know what the criteria is anymore and probably never have... I'd never chose Tevez or Arguero or Messi or Ronaldo as our main striker ahead of Zlatan that's all.

He's massively underrated by many on here.

Whether you like him or not he's becomming the Mourinho of players. Winning trophies everywhere he goes.

KHL mate, you should just admit you went off a bit half-arsed, we all do it sometimes.

*holds hands up*

Admitted.

He's a good player, but is massively *overrated* by lots of people

Plus I hate the name Zlatan. Reminds me of twats.

Except if he ever came here of course. Which he wont.

Maybe I quiffed, but I didn't realize the argument was players you'd prefer over Ibra in the lone striker role. Anyways, I rate Ibra also. He was a disastrous signing for Barca, but that doesn't detract from the fact he's a good player.

Him and Torres could absolutely tear opponents apart. That's all. Would love Tevez too but he's not coming either...

Ah well....

I'm a bit late replying here, but Brendan did my list for me. And Tevez is a striker.

Eto'o
Torres
Drogba
Rooney
Van Persie
Villa
Tevez
Higuain
Aguero

Are all better than him. I'd say Forlan, Luis Fabiano and Anelka are all better goalscorers than him too, but that's a close call. He's good, but overrated. Not in the top bracket of players in the world.

Ossi's cred has been somewhat damaged anyway by his assertion in another thread that Carra was "a disaster as a fullback" in GH's time.
Haha! I can take it. My memory must be very bad because I still believe he was crap during his first season(s) as fullback. But if you say he was great...well, thats your opinion man. I do not see why he would have been great. He isn't the best crosser, he isn't very fast etc. Strong yes.

Out of them, how many have been as sucessful as Ibra?
Michael Carrick has been more successful than Steven Gerrard.

Zlatanified!

Pfft.

Michael Carrick?

Djimi Traore is more successful than Cesc Fabregas.

(Except at the WC of course)

If Zlatan would have been in that list, he wouldn´t stand out as in "What is he doing in that list". He´s overrated by many on here...and he´s underrated by some.

Michael Carrick isnt a big reason that Man Utd won their titles, Ibra on the other hand is a big reason all his clubs have won the title.

Pretty stupid comparison mate

“Zlatan is a great player,†Mourinho said. “But he was happier in Italy than he is in Spain.

One of the best, If not the best coach in the world Mourinho rates Ibra highly. Pretty sure he would know and have a better opinion of him than everyone on this site

Yes, Zlatan was 'key' to Barca winning the title. So much so that Bojan fucking Kricic was taking his spot in critical games at season's end.

Zlatan was key to Inter winning the league. So key in fact that the year after he left, they won everything there was to win in football with Diego Milito, a striker who had a phenomenal resume before joining Inter.

Zlatan has scored 1 (or maybe 2?) goals in the knock out stages of Europe, and has done nothing on the int'l level to take Sweden far in any tournament. Yes, he scores a lot of goals against shit teams but when the goals are really needed, well ... Zlatan just doesn't show up. A great player, yes. But in the top echelon of strikers? No way.

42 Games
22 Goals
10 Assists

In his first season at barca, some of those games were sub appearances as he was recovering from injury.

Are you seriously comparing the 2? Dont make yourself look stupid. Bojan is nowhere near the same class as Ibra.

As for international level, he plays for sweden. What have any of those 8 done for their country to make them better than Ibra at international level? (besides villa and torres). Yet they all play for countries who have a stronger footballing team and better players.

Zlatan, in the last two months of the season, was overlooked by Pep for PEDRO & BOJAN. When the season was on the brink (Inter at home, and Real Madrid on their heels), Pep RARELY used him off the bench. He wasn't 'key' to Barca's title push.

Oh, and try and read mate. I didn't compare the two at all. I said BOJAN 'took his spot in critical games'.

His stats for Juve were also incredible might I add, 23 goals in 69 games. Definitely 'key' to them winning the league. And considering how many 'great' goalscoring #s we see in Holland, the 35 in 74 doesn't really impress that much considering he was playing for the best team at the time.

And as for Int'l comparisons you asked for ... Notice the trend below:

Eto'o - led his team to the world cup (Cameroon has a stronger footballing team than Sweden? really?)
Torres - won world cup
Drogba - led his team to the world cup (Ivory Coast has a stronger footballing team than Sweden? really?)
Rooney - led his team to the world cup
Van Persie - led his team to the world cup final
Villa - led his team to the world cup
Tevez - led his team to the world cup
Higuain - led his team to the world cup
Aguero - led his team to the world cup

So considering Sweden is NOT a bad team and HAS had good runs in int'l tournaments, surely a player of Zlatan's greatness could take them to some major tourney. His int'l stats (23 in 63) are nothing to write home about either.

Ibra is a very gifted player who unfortunately often fails to show up in crucial games. He does however have a sublime touch and scores for fun against lesser sides (a skill in itself).

Barca massively overpaid for him, but he remains a very desirable aquisition for anyone.

All this arguing about the merits of a player we haven't signed is doing my swede in.

Tell me about it.

Well said.

BTW: Ancelotti praised him the other day and he also said that he wanted him to Milan when he still was there.

Every big club in the world wants him, a very few can afford him....that has to count for something or are the managers stupid cunts?

Pep wants NOTHING to do with him ... And he's said it today that there's a reason he's spoken to him TWICE in the last 6 months.

If he moves to Milan, it will be the first move he makes to a team that wasn't winning leagues recently. Let's see how he does ...

They had Sven as coach though, thats a right kick in the bollocks.

Yes, especially compared to Ryan Giggs, the greatest player of all time, and he's led Wales to a World Cup semi-final.

Oh.

Nevermind.

(FWIW, Zlatan [the player, not the poster] is in between the polar opinions on here. He's clearly an elite striker but he's clearly not as elite as he thinks he is and although his goal tally and trophy haul are impressive he does come across as a bit of a passenger on very good sides sometimes.)
