yes, but this 'wonderful' technique didn't exactly set the world alight from 18-24.

a) It's not uncommon for Spanish players to break through at a later age
b) He got his breakthrough at the age of 20 and was pretty much a 1 in 2 man at Gijon and Zaragoza

This is something you could've Googled to save us the hassle.

thanks, i hadn't realised that doing it for gijon and zaragoza (1 in 2) was a sure sign of becoming a world class striker.

Well, doing it for Zaragoza (backed by also doing it at Gijon) was clearly enough of a sign for Benitez who wanted to sign him for Liverpool and Valencia who actually did manage to sign him.

What do you have to say to that?

I'd say it's someone else we've barely heard of, he emphasised potential twice, so right now he must be cack/ not first team ready....

I'm still going with Tello, doesn't really get in the barca side, still young. Moneyballs

it doesn't really mean much but it's strange these days to not to hear alot about a good player who is already 25 . So we'll have to see .

At least we're getting our work done early . This "transfer management " setup seems to be working , well as long as these lads turn out to be decent .

wonder what it means for borini .

Proofs that BROD plays FM.

I've seen him played. Good technique, quick, good work rate. Hot-headed ala Suarez though. Might fit in well with our Liverlona system.

Looks lack he lacks the trickery of Luis, but might be a fox in the box? Knows where the goal is, cliche after cliche?

Technically he will be much better than most of our players because most of our players are technically poor.
So its a step up.
Hopefully hes good.
Ive complained for fucking years that the likes of Napoli, Porto, Ajax, Udinese etc mop up class talent while we waste money on 'Prem proven'
Im happy with these links this guy and Alberto. Good stuff.

I do think its important we replace Marquee with Marquee though. If Suarez goes we need to male a statement to replace him.
A better one than Carroll.

Yep to both points, but who could we attract if we sold Suarez, the only player I can think of is the one who's in every thread on this forum, but that wouldn't be a like for like change, who would want to come here who's good enough?

I know who you mean, the one that shall not be mentioned again.

And I won't mention his name in this thread. That would be just too much.

It's Christian Eriksen right?

Can one of the mods make it so the words "Christian" & "Eriksen" appear as something.... Anything else.... Please????

Aspas evaluation from a Danish reporter that lives in Spain and follows La Liga closely

- He's a fantastic footballer, that's beyond any doubt. He is definitely the main character in Celta Vigo's team. He's got great technical ability and has got good vision too, that is his two main attributes. Despite his small stature, Luna Christofi (the reporter), doesn't doubt for a second that he can cut in England.

- His technical abilities are so good, and we have already seen other small Spanish players do very well in the Premier League. The likes of Juan Mata, David Silva and Pablo Hernandez.

- These small, fast players has found their role and place in the Premier League due to the increase in the Spanish continent of players, though English teams still won't be able to field a full midfield of these types like you see in Barcelona.

An area of concern is how Aspas has coped with the pressure of Celta's relegation battle during Spring.

- I believe he has reacted nervously over the past Months where the pressure has increased in Celta. You could argue he is a young player and being a local boy has meant even more pressure. He's a key player and one of few local lads in the team.

- He has been over-reacting and been involved in controversies during Spring. The big question for me is how will he cope with the pressure in a club like Liverpool?

He created more chances for his teammates than Ronaldo and Messi.
Only Messi scored and assisted a higher percentage of his teams goals than Aspas.

I'm getting quietly confident that this lad could turn out be a great signing.

Indeed, 12 goals and 5 assists out of Celta Vigo's 36 league goals is a huge contribution - thus I'm not too worried about the doubt on his handling of pressure. If playing such a big role over the league season (giving Celta a fighting chance of surviving on the final matchday of the season) isn't coping with pressure/demands, then I don't know what is.

As for the quoted fee of £7.7million, compared to the amount clubs paid for the likes of Kevin Mirallas (£5.3m), Scott Sinclair (£6.2 million) and Jay Rodriguez (£7 Million), it's not too pricey. The fact that Swansea were previously linked might also suggest he's suited/has the attributes to play the type of football BR wants.
