Alli I agree about, but I'm not sure Kane is top international class. He's a very good club player and I'd be more than happy to have him in a Prem squad, but I'm not convinced he'll take that final step.

I don't really view 'that final step' regarding the quality of a player, as having much to do with international football

Lots of my favourite players, for whatever reason, have not had the most remarkable or successful international careers.

Carragher, Fowler, Hansen, even Barnes could arguably be considered to have underperformed at international level

You can tell Chamberlain was a rugby player growing up by his movement and the way he plays the game, often only effective when barnstorming up the pitch in possession and then losing it when asked to engage a football brain. He plays football like it's still about gaining territory and yards on the pitch. The actual technique of kicking a ball well to either cross the ball, or score, seems pretty lost on him.

If we had a really good manager when we had Sven I really think we could have won something (Rio, Neville, Seaman, Campbell, Terry, Scholes, Gerrard, Owen, Lampard, Cole, Rooney etc)
In 1998 under Hoddle we played brilliant football, and after Venables in 1996 we were 100% going in the right direction.
Hoddle dropped Beckham and Owen. And left a fading Gazza out. Everyone went apeshit and we played the best football ive seen England play in my lifetime (we were shit in 1986 but played a good system, and 1990 we had a few good players) Thats the only tournament I still feel aggrieved about us going out of, even though as a nation we seem to moan about all of them.

Then Sven came and the modern era of England we see now began.
Now we have neither a good manager or good players.

We coach the skill out of them.
