Hull

Like I said before, the two up top isn;t rocket science.

We're at home to Hull for fucks sake.
Our no.1 striker plays much better with a partner.
Our best form the is season has been with 2 up top.

So why the fuck didn't we start with two up top?

He was 3 yards from goal, should be burying those chances.

Yes he should be, but the best striker in the world missed a chance like that to let us win number 5. It happens.

I thought he had a decent game today but we looked much much better when he had partner. Lambert's link up play was good too.

No doubt Coutinho was good coming on, but I feel Lallana would also been good coming on (if roles were reversed) because he would have been behind a front 2.

I honestly think Rodgers needs to man the fuck up and play 2 up top. That's how were gonna play when Sturridge is back (surely?), so very the team prepped for that

Gerrard needs dropping for can, Allen/lallana and hendo behind Coutinho
Allen gets us playing as a better defense unit. Hendo and Can has the energy. Coutinho (don't let him take corners), Sterling and Lallana (less so) makes things happen.

But all of them drift about like mongs and get in each others way. 1 playmaker behind a front 2, with a deeper lying playmaker in hendo or Lallana behind them

Some parts of the game today were good, especially in the second half. Positives include the clean sheet, Lambert's excellent link up play, Balotelli's improved effort / performance (especially with Lambert coming in to partner him), Coutinho having another good game, Can showing his promise (needs to play the ball faster though, and use his body and strength more for 50-50 chances rather than lazy stretches), and Manquillo's performance.

There were negatives of course (e.g. our play in the first half was really slow and ponderous, Lallana took a long time to heat up, and Sterling again starting slowly and needing a half to get going), but I think overall, there's stuff we can hopefully build on from this game. Disappointed with the result but encouraged by the second half and clean sheet, rather than miserable.

We didn't concede and looked better with up front.

Still 2 points dropped and massive question marks post Luis

Fuck it...Lallana frustrated the shit out of me.
Always with the fucking fancy flicks. Sorry but I stand by my first assertion, he's nothing special. He's a flair player and he probably thrives in a team doing well but he can't change the game on his own. He slows us down.

Cue Mark.

Cue having patience. Its the obvious drop in form after being out injured and no pre season.
He didnt slow Soton down and wont slow us down.

You champion Coutinho, yet have a go at Lallana for flicks?

Honestly beginning to believe it is an anti English bias

Todays game was screaming out for a bit of magic to win it. Without Studge we desperatly lack that now.
Balotelli was good imho. Should have scored though, no excuses.

The thing is, it's different in Liverpool. He's not getting the same amount of space because the opposition isn't really risking it like they did when they played Southampton.
So he can't play the same type of game. Southampton played fantastic counter attacking football, but look at the game today when Hull played deep. Lallana was so static because he barely could find any space.

Believe what you want but there's more to Couthino's game than fancy flicks.

There is, but he's also the king of doing them for no valid reason. He hesitates passes because he tries to beat a man to much

He's yossi with more talent and less goals

I'd rather see Coutinho than Lallana behind two strikers, and two strikers seems to be the way to go moving forward.

The issue is that Lallana has looked really scary, in a bad way, while pressing. Couple of terrible challenges so far, which concerns me with potentially playing him in a deeper role.

I was gonna say something about £££ but forget it.
Yes Coutinho is a very good player and imo better than Lallana.

I'd like to focus on this game and honestly if we can hound £16 mill Balotelli for not scoring, I think Lallana considering....fuck I almost went there forget it.

@Modo you're like a 3 year old crying for it's mummy for fuck sake

Coutinho? waaaaaaa Coutinho waaaaaaaaa

where Coutinho??????? I don't like lalalala

Mario hasn't got back from injury.

I didn't bring up Coutinho, but since the comparison was made...

Mario hasn't got back from injury.
How long are we gonna play that card? He's already on 10 games this season.
I got the feeling that he was OK after that goal.

How long are you going to just champion your favourites? You've already been on SCM for 9 seasons.

I posted Rodgers pre-match comments on the changes to the team. The first thing you did was ask about Coutinho, not a genuine did he mention Coutinho? It was an agenda driven where the fuck is Coutinho explain that question.

Not long after someone gave their opinion about Can and Lallana being excellent to which of course you replied something about does excellent now mean average.

Then you continued to whinge about Coutinho until after half time, that's when I abandoned the match thread so fuck knows what you posted since then. Point is yes you brought up Coutinho, pre-match no less, and yes you had the first dig at Lallana too not long into the match.

There's no need to go on about something to the point where it drives people mental.

It is, in a way. He's got it into his head (and, once in there, nothing EVER leaves) that Lallana's "overrated" because he's English, so he's going to hammer and hammer and hammer and hammer away at this till doomsday, like some kind of demented woodpecker.
