lyon: i don't know much about them. so they had a DOF from the start of their success then? obviously that'd make the initial success impressive, but didn't they subsequently dominate because of successive years of CL income that no other french club could match?
how do you explain spurs' problems with the system? nothing but problems with it, nothing but success without it, at least seemingly to a casual observer.

It's a flawed question. A better one is how much does this squad need spent on it to get back into the CL?
I would argue that it needed at least £40M, and that's a conservative estimate.
Ryan's right, we surely won't spend too much in January. A move for Forlan seems to be on the cards, which be great, but I'm not too optimistic about this window as whole.

On paper a DOF does appear to make sense, but it's whether a harmonious relationship can be kept between themselves and the manager that is the crucial factor. If a DOF ensured that we had no more Keane's and Aquilani's then I think it would be a risk worth taking.
In Dalglish we appear to have the perfect man for the job. No manager is going to have a public fall out with a club legend. Whether they would come and work in such a set-up remains to be seen - but it's not uncommon for managers on the continent.

Konchesky is an average left back. I wouldn't call him decent. Where as Meireles is a decent midfielder who needs to be playing at the centre of midfield. Not upfront as an attacking midfielder.
Roy is certaintly a bad manager so far so i don't give a flying fuck whether he is good in transfer market or not. Performance on the pitch counts.
