How many goals...

You'd have to think that Gerrard, Coutinho and Henderson are capable of 15-20 between them. I'm guessing it won't be too far off that figure though.

Hendersons had quite few attempts on goal this season some were really bad misses if i remember correctly. Makes you wonder had we kept Shelvey!

It's amazing how people think that the bunch of players that have 4 goals between them after 11 games, will end up with as much as 30-40 goals after 38(+ FA Cup) games. That's going to be some turn around, and it'll mean either our strikers will stop scoring, or we'll win everything with ease.

Looking back at my own, I was being overly optimistic, and I was one of the lower predictors.

Aspas 5
Alberto 2
Allen 1
Agger 1
Coutinho 8
Cissokho 1
Gerrard 6
Henderson 5
Ibe 2
Johnson 1
Lucas -1
Moses 4
Skrtel 2
Sakho 1
Sterling 3
That sick AM we sign in Jan 30

I hear what you're saying but last season that group of players contributed to around 30 goals.

If you compare our scoring stats this season to those at the end of last, we're scoring, on average, roughly the same number of goals per game - 1.8-1.9.

We tend to play through Suarez and Sturridge as much as we can so they will dominate the scoring - perhaps even moreso this season. That'll still leave about 20 goals perhaps for the rest to make up. Of course, if we go on a goal scoring spree towards the end of the season as we sometimes do, we may end up improving on the overall goals tally and those players may end up contributing 30 odd goals again.

It could happen, but I'd be surprised at the rate it's gone so far. I imagine that after 11 games last season, the rest had scored a good few more than 4. I think there's only two ways they'll get to 30, either Suarez, Sturridge or both are out injured. Or we've nothing left to play for late on and we go out and batter a few teams. Neither are particularly appealing.

I'd be perfectly happy if our front two stayed fit and kept scoring, but that's unlikely too, so I reckon this will be our downfall this season, our other nine players don't contribute enough. With the exception of Gerrard, the rest don't score near enough goals.

I'd be more than happy to be proved wrong, but I'd say we'll do well to get 20-25 from the rest of the team, putting us on about 60-70 goals, which is good enough for 3rd-5th place.

Gerrard 11 (5 penalties)

Agger 1
Toure 1
Enrique 1

31! Almost the same as last year, Suarez & Sturridge should kick in 45 between them for total of 76, 5 more than last year. Do-able.

If you've got two players scoring 20+ goals each a season then I think you can afford to carry a low-scoring midfield. The trouble, as you say, will be if either of those go through a barren patch or even worse, injury.

The hope I guess is that we build on the way we played against Fulham and start to see a bit more of that against better sides. That level of work-rate, desire and hunger to score goals will result in better performances then we've been seeing and hopefully the results will go with them.

Still, this team has still got it all to prove.
