Here's a question...

Markovic's injury makes it easier for Rodgers to include Gerrard in the team, as he can push Henderson to the right wing back position and drop Gerrard into the centre beside / in front of Lucas. The alternatives at wing back are Johnson (*moan*) and Manquillo, whose last game was against Bolton at Anfield. Granted, not the ideal position for Henderson, but I can see why Rodgers could opt for that.

Gerrard will be up for this one; sometimes you just have to go with instincts and the track record**, rather than cold, hard numbers or current evidence. This will be a game where tempo and tempers will be high, and being able to take and dish physical challenges is important.

** 5 goals (1-1, 4-0, 3-0) and 2 assists (3-3, 2-2) in his last 6 Meryseyside league derby games.
13.03.2012 Anfield 3-0 (goal, goal, goal)
28.10.2012 Goodison 2-2 (assist)
05.05.2013 Anfield 0-0
23.11.2013 Goodison 3-3 (assist)
28.01.2014 Anfield 4-0 (goal)
27.09.2014 Anfield 1-1 (goal)

Gerrard against Everton this season at Anfield. Granted Howard should've done better with the free kick, but Gerrard didn't look like a liability to me:

And of course, who can forget this scary celebration:

I'm going all soft and sentimental here. I can't believe this is the last league derby we'll be seeing him in.

What's the point supporting the club if sentiment can't play a part in a game like this?
I'd like to see him start.

We don't need him as he doesn't/can't do a fat lot anymore. I don't see the harm in starting him for it on sentimental grounds, we can afford a passenger I guess.

Play Manquillo at right wing back away at Goodison.

Play Gerrard alongside Coutinho in an advanced position.

Assuming you don't have Lallana starting, then who would you drop? Because 3 at the back (Can, Skrtel, Sakho) + 2 wing backs (Manquillo, Moreno) + 2 AMs (Gerrard, Coutinho) leaves 3 places but 4 players (Sterling, Sturridge, Lucas, Henderson).

Fucking bullshit... of course you play him.

What is it 8 goals? (9?)... our lead scorer...

Not to mention he is still our best player and has a magnificent record against Everton to boot.

... regardless of whether it's his last derby or not ffs.

I'd like to Think he'd up the ante for this one so I'd start him. Not at the expense of any of the deeper midfielders however

On performance for me, no but I've a feeling sentiment will take over .. last derby etc...

No he doesn't not based on form, BUT I would still start him - sentimental bastard.

He will also we up for it and probably WILL score a winner.

I took that as he will be on the bench tbh..

It was more like, he will definitely be involved at some point..

I wasn't giving it my full attention but I thought at first it sounded like he'd start but Brendan caught himself on giving away to much and decided to play it down.

We'll find out on saturday, looking forward to this one.

I'm assuming Sturridge will be on the bench. He looked like he's a week or so away from fitness last night for sure...

His passing was horrendous last night, bread and butter stuff, and the game largely passed him by. Impact sub please.

He'll start I expect him to score too but I want Henderson and Lucas as a pairing in the middle with Gerrard in front of them.

Is Lazar definitely out? I don't want Henderson RWB because that means Gerrard will play a deeper role.
