I think he merits a new thread based on his barnstorming form recently. He's a proper leader on the pitch, always organising and bawling out players around him (and he has been doing that from long before he had the armband). He's 25, and probably entering the 4 years that will mark his peak as a player. We must sort his contract out as a matter of urgency. Mustn't we?

He reminded me of the Gerrard of 2005 yesterday... Thats the best compliment I can give him..

His last two goals where Gerrard Esque.. The one last night was almost a carbon copy of the olympiakos one..

The pass he layed on for the 2nd goal was Gerrard Esque..

His workrate was Gerrard Esque.. (early Gerrard)

Old lego head seems to have added +10 ability and +20 Technique just through wearing the Captains armband alone..

Although Kenny bought him, he's a classic BR player. Works hard, willing to adapt, desperate to improve, listens (Shelvey was the anti-thesis of this).
He's improving all the time and is clearly a top bloke too.

He's been awesome hasn't he? His form seems to be effected by those around him though, as such he'll never be able to single handedly win a game like Gerrard always has done, but thats fine, he's not Gerrard, but he's a very fine midfielder and he's going to be a great captain, and is better than Gerrard is other ways. His work rate, persistence and ability to work in a disciplined unit is superb, he's got a great knack of sensing when someone is vulnerable and helping them out, playing right wing back next him must give you great confidence, because you know if something goes wrong, he'll be there.

The most underrated part of his game has to be his passing, as has been mentioned he's got a wonderful range of passing on him, be it a short one touch pass to retain possession when receiving the ball slightly short whilst under pressure, a bending cross behind the defence for Borini, a deft black heel flick for Sturridge against Aston Villa, or that ridiculous pin point ball to Sturridge last night, his passing is simply superb, and with Gerrard out of the team, he's going to start taking that role upon himself more and more. He's got a great strike on the ball too, but he's always been shackled by his own lack of confidence when going for goal, it's almost as if he thinks he's being selfish shooting, luckily with experience and maturity he's growing in that confidence, and I believe these last two goals are just the start of things to come.

He's one of the best, and most underrated midfielders in this country, simple.

Sadly though his corners are just as shit as Gerrards too..

Gerrards corners were never shitter than anyone elses, he actually had some of the best in the country, statistically.

It's just a common misconception based on the fact that we saw him take loads, but most peoples are shit.

Our form is in spite of our set piece play though. I'm actually bored of snagging off our corner taking. We're appalling at it.

He's great

I remember seeing him in a few games in his first season and he was like a deer in the headlights, had no idea what he was doing in a team that had no identity, and Stewart Downing. Now though, in a well functioning team that gets on (I love this part), he's boss

Everyone loves Hendo

I always stuck up for him although in the early days I said there no was no point picking him if his midfield partners were going to be the likes of Downing, Shelvey, Lucas etc. It was obvious to me that the only thing he lacked was the ability to "beat a man" in the way Coutinho, Sterling, Lallana etc can. Henderson's considerable qualities shine through when he has such players around him, this allows his phenomenal energy, positional sense (reading of the game) and passing to come to the fore.

In years to come England managers will fail to spot this and will pick Henderson in midfield combinations with the likes of Milner, Carrick, Rooney etc and they'll wonder why he doesn't re-produce his club form for his country.

Just reading through this old thread, just before we started our upturn in form, christ it was miserable being a Liverpool support then, we were shit, and everyone was angry!

Ha, I believe he's got everything else to become a very good midfielder for this club. Great attitude, hard-working, technically able, keeps the ball well. As his confidence grows his footballing abilities will become more apparent to the doubters.

Just sayin'

Last season we where ace at set pieces..

towards the end of the season.. we where scoring off corners for fun..

I'd have Coutinho on corners personally.

Joe Allens, Hendersons and Gerrards are all shite.

This was my favourite thread about Henderson... by Modo of course, basically he doesn't do stepovers and he's english so I don't like him.

I rate Hendo because he's dedicated and works hard, but despite his goals and the occasional assists to me he just seems average.
