He's been awesome hasn't he? His form seems to be effected by those around him though, as such he'll never be able to single handedly win a game like Gerrard always has done, but thats fine, he's not Gerrard, but he's a very fine midfielder and he's going to be a great captain, and is better than Gerrard is other ways. His work rate, persistence and ability to work in a disciplined unit is superb, he's got a great knack of sensing when someone is vulnerable and helping them out, playing right wing back next him must give you great confidence, because you know if something goes wrong, he'll be there.
The most underrated part of his game has to be his passing, as has been mentioned he's got a wonderful range of passing on him, be it a short one touch pass to retain possession when receiving the ball slightly short whilst under pressure, a bending cross behind the defence for Borini, a deft black heel flick for Sturridge against Aston Villa, or that ridiculous pin point ball to Sturridge last night, his passing is simply superb, and with Gerrard out of the team, he's going to start taking that role upon himself more and more. He's got a great strike on the ball too, but he's always been shackled by his own lack of confidence when going for goal, it's almost as if he thinks he's being selfish shooting, luckily with experience and maturity he's growing in that confidence, and I believe these last two goals are just the start of things to come.
He's one of the best, and most underrated midfielders in this country, simple.
