Which players were bought after performing well against us?

Michael Thomas - Every Liverpool fan should know why.

Charlie Adam - Mr £10 million corners

There's probably more.

Loads from the glory days. Bob Paisley publicly admitted that that's what made us buy Johnny Wark for example. Souey was another if I remember rightly.

Heskey never, ever, looked more dangerous than when he played against us. I think that's probably why I tend to be meaner about him than many, because I expected him to look that good for us, and, although he had some very good games, he rarely did IMHO.

We've had so many worse strikers than him. Heskey was great by comparison

We would have probably bought Viduka, if we didn't already have decent strikers.

Oh yes, I agree. But I didn't expect most of the others to do much. When you've seen a player cause chaos against your own team it makes you that bit more optimistic about what they'll do when they play for you.

Drogba showed what he could do when he played against us for Marseilles. Pity we didn't go for him!

Was it him or Essien that didn't really want to go to Chelsea but Roman kept throwing cash at them to make it happen?

I can't remember, mate.

Edit: according to google Drogba had been 'torn' about a move but as you say Abramovich kept raising the stakes.

Yea that sounds familiar. He was a cracking player for Marseilles though.

Jean Michel Ferri played well against a Toxteth U8 team in a school boys international tournament

Alun Evans scored a great goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers against us in 1968 so we bought him for a then record fee for a teenager of £110,000.

Terry McDermott and Alan Kennedy were excellent against us for New'cazzle in the 74 cup final.

Jason McAteer apparently impressed against us for Bolton in the league cup final.

You just knew after fergie made those comments in respect of Charlie Adam, he would turn out to be shite..

Didn't remember that - was it really 110k??? That was an absolutely vast sum at the time.
