I can't remember the last time I've been so gutted mark, right now I feel sick. normally when liverpool have a season of mediocrity I look at the positives and think about the future. where are the positives for LFC what is going to stop next season ending exactly like this one? 🙁

Yeah but.... he'll be boss when played in his favoured position!

He's got great potential!

etc.

It is a shame though Mark. He has all the raw attributes to make it in the league. Big, strong, fast, pity about the brain.

A good brain and a good touch will always be more important than physical attributes, even in the Premiership. I've given up on him, although I did like the effort he put in last night. Lucus was fucking anonymous, again.

That's why it's such a shame he doesn't have one, he has all the raw physical attributes.

Concerning Lucas, I don't agree at all mate. He showed well, moved it faster than usual, got stuck in, ran for 120 minutes and had an assist?

How was he fucking anonymous?

hopefully he will have a storming WC to raise his price.

Although you never know, the new manager could sort him out and make him look up and choose the right option every now and then.

Macca used to be very guilty of that early on lets not forget (although Ryan is nowhere near his class so far)

If Babel has a shocking WC or does not get on the pitch at all then we will be lucky to get £7 million for him

Yeah it's been a shitter, and laying into Babel is probably missing the mark, given it's not completely his fault that he's failed (though largely). It's all just a bit symptomatic of everything that's wrong really with us at present. We're still a good side though, but we need to invest now and bring in the 'right' players, not necessarily the big names but the right ones.

It's hard to break old habits regarding Lucas. I personally am thrilled he's started showing more in the opposition half

An absolutely perfect delivery for Yossi's goal seems to have gone unnoticed and much more besides.

And some. I thought he showed last night (again) that partnered with someone other than Masher in midfield he's good enough. He reminds me more and more of Flamini a few years back.

I don't think he's lazy. I just think he's shit and braindead.

[/quote]
I think that just about sums it up.

If Babel thinks about what he is doing he is fucking hopeless, on the odd occasion he gets to do something instinctively he can get it right.
It is instances of that latter very rare occurrence that seem to have some people fooled.

Babel is not half as shit as this tread suggest. He has had an ok run in a dissapointing team. He has improved great on his interplay with other, but to start summarizing our poor perfomances on a guy which Benitez has no confidence in is stupid. Every attacking player in this squad needs a more destined attacking plan. To source out one outcast that is thrown in every now and then is false play!

With proper management i think babel would turn out to be excellent!!
i still rate babel and he has done enough to stay another year.
Glen Johnson is good, just he needs abit of help on the defensive side of his game.
El zhar is just a disgrace.. should be nowhere near our club

Can't agree Zlatan, Babel lacks two of the basics as has been said.
Touch and brain, OK, his touch is there on occasions, but is too erratic, but a football brain....nah he just ain't got it.
Like Cisse in so many ways.
You need three main attributes to be a top footballer, touch, pace and brain. If you have two of the three requirements in spades you can get away with a shortcoming in the third. For example if you have loads of skill and a fantastic brain , you can live without the pace, like-wise if you have loads of pace and skill you can get away with a slight lack of brain power etc.
I also missed desire off my attributes list , that should never be an issue, however for some it seems a little lacking, at least Cisse had that, which puts him a way ahead of Ryan.
Look lads do yourselves a favour, like Spider, stop thinking he is ever going to make it here, we have had more false dawns with Babel than the dark side of the moon....

I'm pretty much done with babel now I was fooled by moments of sheer class from him and was just waiting and waiting for him for those moments to turn into consistancy but it isn't going to happen.

moments of class
1. derby goal
dummies two players and then finishes emphatically

2. the back heel goal

3. the toe poke
lets the ball run across his body and then toe pokes into the corner. quality finish

the fact he scored big goal in big games
man u
chelsea - wasn't enough to win the game unfortunately
arsenal - winning the penalty and then scoring

suggested to me he had a big game mentailty
he just isn't consistant enough. if we were to pack out the sqau with good players and he was happy to sit down the pecking order then keeping him wouldn't be so bad but I suspect we'll need money from sales, so its time to let the myth that is ryan's potential move on to pastures new.

fair enough, obviously i expected more of him aswell but in saying that he is better than what we currently have.
He has the speed and attacks, just if he attacked in a better way like doing step overs instead of running to a corner and stopping.
Thats why im saying with better management he would be amazing.
If he went to arsenal, under wenger her would be 5times the player he is now
